Benchmark Mortage Lies, Lies and more Lies and then Lies some more!!! Tacoma Washington

I was a first time home buyer and used Benchmark mortgage as my Broker. What a mistake. It took 3 months from start to finish. We ended up paying 10% in closing costs for a 96,000 FHA loan. This company offened the seller to the point that they would no longer deal with them. We did not receive our goodfaith estimate until 24 hours before we were scheduled to sign closing docs! I reported my experience to the BBB and the company replied stating that I was moody, paridoid, etc..They said we were not cooperative in getting documents to the underwriter.

The BBB closed our case. They obviously work for the businesses rather than the consumer. The reply made to the BBB by Benchmark was just another round of fast talking. I am greatly offended by the comments April Jannus made about my character. My gut told me very early on that these people were just buying time until interst rates went up. My Title company concured.

In the begining they said they were going to get us a loan via a refi with a title transfer since we were buying out lease with purchase option home. My husband and I both questioned this. How can you do a refi when you don't own the home?? More fast talking on Benchmarks end. We believed what ever they were doing was possible because they are the experts not us.

When our file came back from the underwriters it had 1 stipulation. It was met. Now heres where things get icky. In my opinion, along with experts in the field, Our file NEVER went to underwriting because there was no file!! This company Knew we were going to need an FHA loan and interest rates were to low to make a ig enough profit...so they stalled.

Every week we were told that we would get a phone call by Friday to let us know of our cloing date. Every Friday, NO PHONE CALL!! When we would contact Benchmark we would be told that our broker, Tim WIlliams, was out of town. I guess this is what Ms. Jannus calls parinoid. Of course I was parinoid. How many times can you be told something that is not true and continue to believe it.
In the reply to the BBB, Ms. Jannus also states that we had a difficult personal file and were uncooperitive in supplying documents. Are you KIDDING me??? We were so on top of the game! We produced docs that they didn't even ask for yet but knew they would! We were told every time when we talked to Mr. Williams that our file was GOLD!! Not many people are in your position, he would tell us. What a bunch of fast talkin swindlers taking the thrill out of the American Dream!

I am over the fact that they ruined our first time home buying experience but what chaps my hide is Ms. Jannus taking a stab at my character! I would love to get them in some sort of litigation. I have documented every phone call, every message they left on my answering machine, dates, broken promises...and the real ticker, the good faith est. 24 hours before closing. I know that violates Federal law. I guess what it boils down to is..I may be parinoid, irrational, difficult..all because of Benchmark but one thing I am NOT, Ms. Jannus and Mr. WIlliams, is a LIAR!!
