Let me tell you about my Bernard Haldane experience. I first got the spam email from my resume posting on monster.com (which, by the way, is a violation of monster.com's Terms of Use). I responded for the free assessment. I got a call from a lady who told me that the Vice President would like to meet with me. She made the appt. for me to see Mr. John Buettner. He's about 80 years old, I think. I met with the Butt-man, as I call him, and he really pumped me up. He asked all kinds of questions regarding such obtuse bits of my history as, Where did you go to High school? and Do you like sports/ are you competitive? He refused to answer any direct questions, though. I asked him about the free assessment I was to be getting. He said I'd be lucky if they decided to work with me. He gave me some line about how they only bring on about 20% of the potential clients. Gee, that sounds like a typical sales rate doesn't it? Did he really mean that he can only sign about 20% of those who walk in the door? When I asked what it was about my resume that interested him, He refused to comment on my resume. I pushed and he told me that my resume sucked'. Now, if it really sucked, then why did he have his secretary call me to indicate his strong' interest in helping me? He told me how through BHA, I would find the perfect career for me. Implying that I am an idiot who has made the wrong career choice and only he/ Bernie h. can save me. He mentioned the fee, but wouldn't elaborate he also insisted that I bring my wife to the second interview. I thought bringing my wife was crazy, but he said that he would not see me without her. This reminded me of my experience at the appliance store when the salesman wanted to talk to my wife I thought it was crazy, but being unemployed isn't fun, so I scheduled the second meeting. The Butt-man gave me some bogus homework to complete and told me to bring it back to the second meeting. My wife thought I was crazy and even suggested that this sounded like a scam. With her urging, I got online and did a search and found this site. We laughed for hours about how canned' the Butt-man's pitch was. Then I got angry. I hadn't cancelled the appointment yet, so my wife and I decided to go and catch the sneaky bastards lying like they have apparently done to so many of you. We went to the second meeting and the Butt-man made a big deal to my wife about being there to hear his pitch. He droned on for almost two hours about everything everybody else here has talked about. He talked about the proprietary website, the hidden contacts with business leaders, about how I could make tens of thousands more if I let them handle the negotiations. And talk about your obvious sales jerk he must have trial closed' a dozen times! Do you see the value in this? What crap! Of course, we wanted to sound authentic, so we gave him every buying' signal one can give, nodding our heads, excited oh yeahs!', etc. Then came the money revelation. For a mere $6 Grand they could get me into the career position of my dreams'. He left my wife and I alone to think about it. While he was gone, he wanted us to read some letters he had from other BHA victims/clients. More than of them were not even victims/clients of his office, but from Kansas City and other places. My wife thought it would be funny to slip a page from this site into the book. She barely got the page into the little page holder, when he came in to tell us to remember to let him know when we are ready for himWe told him that we were ready already. He came in and sat and looked at us and said nothing. I knew from my previous sales training that he who goes first loses' so we sat there, too, looking at him. Finally, the Butt-man cleared his throat and said, well?. I told him that we really weren't interested in spending $6K on assistance' when it was obvious that we would be doing all the work. He got really angry and started talking about how if we didn't trust him, then maybe Bernard Haldane can't help us and No wonder you need to get a job. He was very insulting and really tried to guilt us into signing. However, we stood our ground and watched his bald head turn red. As we left the building we laughed so hard about the page we inserted into his little book. I hope the next victim found it before signing. We also spoke with a young man in the building parking lot who we saw with the Bernard Haldane folder. I think we talked him in to visiting this site, too. We plan on spreading the word. These guys are every bit as slick and nasty as everyone else on this site has said. If one was weak, I could see them getting suckered or bullied into this scam. My advice is to simply STAY AWAY.
