My Father an (80yr) old Veitnam Vet purchased a samsung camera /video recorder four months ago and it quit working, he took it back to BestBuy to see if he could exchange, or service it. My Dad was told without the receipt there was nothing they could do, they have no record of it, even tho he purchased the protection. So if you purchase anything at BestBuy make sure you keep your receipt forever because you will be turned away...with a sorry cant do anything for you.

Thanks Mark, Yes you would think they could match the purchase to the name or to the serial number but no if you pay cash you just eat it. And yes mentioning the fact he was 80 and a vietnam Vet does matter, due to the fact of his age and health, the employee was rude, the employee should take the benifit of the doubt more than likely he didn't steal the camera, obviously the person entering the sale did not do his job in this first place. They don't have to worry I will be sending it in for service, however I will never buy another thing from Best Buy which I am sure they will cry all the way to the bank over losing my business.

Did he pay with a card? If so, Best Buy will have a record and can duplicate the receipt. If he paid cash, then he has to accept his own responsibility for poor record keeping. 

Odd that his I.D. doesn't match any service plan, as Best Buy also can look up the warranty under his name and address.

And, credibility questions are added as you feel it is necessary as a 3rd party to complain about another person's apparent problem. If an "(80yr) old Veitnam Vet" is supposed to have some bearing to the complaint, is it related to why he is unable or disinterested with filing his own complaint? Were you there with him when he made the purchase?
