I, too, like the buyer from Kyle, TX am having the same "missing computer" experience w/ Best Buy. I am now thoroughly annoyed. First, the clerk that took my laptop, likewise, told me a week to a week 1/2, and then I notice that this time deadline is scratched out when I get home.

Second, he never bothered to mention that my 1 year warranty was still good w/ HP itself. Why, pray tell, would Best Buy not want to save itself $$ by not accepting repairs on computers when a manufacturer's warranty itself has not run out? (Note: After speaking with a great rep from HP, I was informed the same service would have taken 5 days MAX from them! DO NOT USE BEST BUY SERVICE, do not buy their performance plan!!!)
A total, complete, disinterested, uncaring idiot waited on me, stole my computer from me basically, and now I have to deal w/ more uncaring, complete NON-customer service just to try to find out where the heck my computer is, and what is going on. It's been over 2 weeks, so I call the number on the receipt.

I'm on hold for over 15 min, trying to navigate their system to try to get to a human being. Then, she can't access ANY, i repeat, ANY record of my laptop service, and basically says sorry, can't help ya. Well, I'm not taking this for an answer, and am then forced to wait another 15 minutes to get an indifferent manager on the phone, who promises to call me the next day w/ a report, and never does. I ask him about 5 times, so you will give me a call tomorrow then, correct? Oh, yes. What more do you want? I don't know. I don't know what else to tell you. I don't know. I don't know." He must have said it 10 times....well, what do you know Best Buy? obviously, not much. I, we, absolutely will not accept this total LACK of service!

I will picket in front of their store if I have to, but I will get my laptop back w/in the next week, and I will get at least a $500 credit! They have lost me work, and inflicted intentional emotional distress, and it is simply not how a company does business.

I am mailing this complaint to their supposed customer service HQ in Minnesota. If anyone has any direct numbers to head honchos, I would appreciate them.
I am an attorney, and if I don't get a response by tomorrow, I will proceed to file suit against your company. If any one is interested in joining a class action for this type of poor service let me know by clicking on the rebuttal button immediately.

Best Buy Returns

AUTHOR: S.n. - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 01, 2004

I purchased a digital camera on sale at Best Buy. I knew exactly which camera I wanted because I had a friend with the same camera. When I got the camera home, I filled out the warranty information on line. The camera did not work propertly so my daughter returned it to the store and asked for a replacement camera (within one week of of purchase). She took a copy of the original receipt since we had other items on the receipt.

They gave her an identical camera. It worked with no problems. The next day I received a call at my office from Best Buy's manager telling me that they had given me the wrong camera and that I needed to return it immediately. He then informed me that the camera in the box which we had returned was an inferior camera and that was the one he would replace. He stated that we never had the camera that we had gotten the replacement for and we needed to return it to the store immediately.

Unfortunately for him, I did indeed have the correct camera and I had the original paperwork from registering it with the manufacturer. I have no idea what kind of scam he was trying to pull, but I told him if he wanted the camera back he would have to come and get it. That was over a year ago. I stil lhave the camera I purchased and paid for from Best Buy.

I am interested in a class action suit against Best Buy also

AUTHOR: NANCY - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, July 31, 2004

Best buy sold me the wrong computer and I didn't notice it until after 4 months . I specifically said I wanted a HP with a pentium . They took it back to set up and when I purchased it they sold me a Amd antholon by the time I noticed it was to late and my sales reciept matched what they sold me so I couldn't prove anything. Seven months later my CD_RW broke I took it it for repairs as I had the warranty , and it also was warranted still under HP. They called me three days later and told me I had an aftermarket CD_RW writer in my computer. I had no idea what they were talking about I went to the store and told them I had not changed anything Why would I when I have a warranty . They said if I wanted it fixed I had to pay for it. I told them they sold me the wrong computer in the first place and no matter what computer I walked out of the store with I had bought this warranty for this computer as it sits. I called the police and he said take the computer home and try to go thru the credit card company.

Well I wrote to CEO Brad Anderson and he passed it off to some else who basically said I was lying and they could do nothing for me but they vauled my buisness HA HA I then wrote the credit card company and by now I just wanted to not pay for the warranty which obviously they weren't going to stand by and I wanted 80.00 more so I could purchase a Hp cd-rw player Well they denied me that and in the mean time my time was up for payment and they charged me 376.oo for interest . Which I had paid all except for what I was disputing.

So if you are interested in a class action suit yes I would like to get involved with that at the present I am writing to Attorney General LIsa Madigan from Illinois to see if they can do anything for me.

I was thinking I wanted to have the fingerprints checked on my cd-rw writer as I have never opened my cpu by after reading several comments I now realize perhaps my machine was someones return as the box was open because they did so to set it up . I feel now this was an intentional switch . At first I was thinking they sold me someones computer in error and for some reason that person wanted to change the cd-rw but now i don't feelt hat is the case.
