Best Buy would not refund/exchange defective laptop within 14 days after initial sale. They refused.  I showed up at the store on day 14 with my reciept.I have contacted their online resolution team with no relief. Below is their response. This has gone on for nearly two months and I still have a defective laptop that is not usable and they have my money. I will once again ask that BB do the right thing and replace this defective laptop. I will continue to make noise until they do. It appears that BB does not care if they have a satisfactory relationship with their customers. They have a chance to correct this mistake on their part. Lets see what they do. Check back often for updates. I will post all responses I receive from them. Thanks for taking the time to view my post.

Hi Panel1,

I am so sorry that I have not been able to get in touch with you until now!  I
have been out of the office due to a back injury.  It was not my intention to
leave you wondering what was going on.

After speaking to management, they are unable to make an exception on your
behalf.  I'm sorry.  The issue here is the amount of time that passed before the
damage occurred.  I'm not sure if your family would consider repairing the
computer and to be honest I am not sure what the cost would be to have the
screen replaced.  If you could get an estimate for the cost of the screen
replacement I would be happy to help with some of the cost.

I am once again sorry that I did not get back to you sooner.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds

what probably happened in this case

AUTHOR: Kristy - (U.S.A.)

if you read the original report carefully,  he doesn't actually say what was wrong with the laptop Screen.... My guess here is that  the screen was cracked.. in which case the store would state customer damaged it...

if you have a cracked LCD... logically if you purchase an item on day #1.. you would expect the customer to return to the store within a few hours of purchase... claiming it was that way when he purchased it... or at the very latest the next day.... the longer you wait.. the weaker your case is for an exchange... not 14 days latter... waiting until the last day on a return policy is a warning sign of customer fraud.

I am a little surprised that Tasha is offering to cover some of the cost..  that's not something the store itself would honor.. unless the repair cost was reduced in Best Buy STAR Repair system... or some type of gift card was offered..  please provide more info on this issue.

They stated in their response...

The issue here is the amount of time that passed before the damage occurred.

But you claim there was a "defect".  What exactly happened to the screen and is it damage or a defect?

Wait a minute..

What is wrong with the laptop that the screen needs replaced?  They don't just break on their own.  You neglected to say what was defective.  If you broke the screen somehow then there is no way they are going to take it back.
