I purchased a Samsung phone under the impression, as stated in their city wide Sunday flyers, that I would recieve a $100 discount through the mail if I purchased a cellular phone through Best Buy.

I purchased the phone and submitted the original form and receipt showing my purchase. After 90 days and NOT getting my refund, I called Best Buy and they informed me that they NEVER recieved my request.

I did not think about sending it certified, but nevertheless, they ripped me off. They were kind enough to offer me a $25 coupon for any product, but not the cash that I was entitled to.

Needless to say, I will NOT buy another product from Best Buy. There are several consumer electronics stores out there and they're about the get a HUGE boost in business - from me, my friends, coworkers, church members, college classmates, fraternity brothers, my alumni, and EVERYBODY else that's willing to listen. Best Buy is crummy and a ripoff of a store. Ever notice that Sunday flyer that claims if you buy a 50 inch screen or bigger TV set and they will give you a free recliner and ottoman?

Guess what? Take a look at the time frame and you'll notice that it's cleverly done exactly 31 days apart!!! Why? Because when store policy dictates that you cannot go back and ask for a refund for the difference or any "inclusive" promotional items after 30 days.

Best Buy is full of cheats and ripoffs. If anybody from Best Buy is reading this, you can take that blue and yellow shirt and shove it up your a$$!!!! Jerks!

#1 Consumer Suggestion

It's always a Cover-Your-A$$ world

AUTHOR: Tony - ()

I used to work at BBuy. Many customers don't look at their receipts. One is the original, the second a rebate receipt. The second one is what you send in. Never, Never, Never part with the original, and always refer to the transaction number.

Understand that the BBuy rebate center is independant of the store you purchased the item from. IF BBuy is offering the rebate, those jerks in the rebate center are responsible. Not the non-comissioned-hourly-Yellow/Blue shirts you insulted. Not even the General Manager has any pull or influence when the issue concerns itself with corporate. You're yelling at the waiter, when you need to yell at the cook for the cr*p you've been dished out. Call the 800 number and yell at the corporate office.

If your rebate is from the manufacturer, then that's who you b*tch at, not at the store you bought the item from. And of course the store cannot garantee a manufacturer's rebate or warranty. So read the fine print and you won't get burned.

From experience, it's a C.Y.A world. Keep your originals.

As for the return policies, I've seen way too many UN-ethical customers take advantage of sales and promo items. Everytime a consumer cheats a store, it spoils it for everyone else when that store implements tougher policies.
I've seen too many returns where customers wanted $ for free items (yes they want a refund for the TV and $ for the ottoman, or they want to try and keep the chair or the stand) or product switches, or cutting out the UPC, to get the $ for the rebates and returning the merchandise. Too many people want to manipulate the system, or take advantage of it, and that's why it's the way it is today.
