It happened to me to, but I am a lucky one !

I went to best buy the other day and when i bought something and gave them my phone number for my rewards they couldn't find it and i knew it was the right number. So i went to log in to my account and i would not accept my username or password. I tried recovering lost passwords but it kept saying you don't have an account with us. I am, was now a silver member. Luckily I don't think I had more than 5 dollars worth of certificates in there because I haven't bought anything there over 20 dollars in a while. I barely made it in the silver program but was proud to be there and am now truly disappointed that my account has seemingly vanished with their attempt to erase their debts like the never happened. They even raised the requirements. However I don't believe it will not do much good trying to sue them because after joining the program with all their fine print you have agreed that they can do whatever the want with the rewards points and accounts. Lucky for me I only browse their mostly and when I see something I want, instead of paying their overpriced amount, I shop elsewhere or online. So, in the end I am sad they screwed me out of my silver account but at the same time at least I had not been buying much stuff from there or then I would be really pissed like some of you. Good luck in your endeavors.

I would agree..

...that they deciding to close 50 store is not a good sign overall for them or the economy of this country. But also realize it is a business (that means the intent is for profit) and if they have over saturated areas and have stores that are not profiting.. it would be a wise business decision to close them, you think?

Look at their financial reports which are public record.

They messed up big time purchasing Carphone Warehouse for 1.3 billion, but bottom line..they PROFITED around a billion. Not really a sign they are the next Circuit City. And even if Best Buy fails..where are you going to have a better chance at a successful basic consumer electronics purchase if you can't even complete one at a Best Buy? Target? Walmart? Amazon? Okay... let's see how that goes if and when those are the only choices left besides Ebay and Craigslist.

Have you bothered to scan the message boards over at BestBuy.com? There are plenty of complaints about this company from disgruntled consumers. They may not all post on Ripoff Report, but they're making their concerns known somewhere. And I said in my post over a year ago that this kind of abuse of their customers would drive Best Buy toward the same fate as Circuit City. Lo and behold, they just posted a list of 50 stores they're shutting down due to a major 4th quarter loss last year. And rest assured, this is merely the beginning of the end. Bad prices, horrible customer service, and a willingness to cheat loyal customers out of Reward Zone points they rightfully earned is not a recipe for long-term success, particularly in an economy as weak as this one.

My reward zone points always get stolen by best buy

AUTHOR: modelelizabeth - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, April 18, 2012

i just purchased  a Mac osx,a printer, and some other things it came out to about $1500 and my points never showed up so i put the receipt number in my rz account like i kept having to do in the past to get them to acknowledge my purchases, but its been a month since i put in my receipt number on the reward zone website and still no points.i just went to their website and they are conveniently closed down for maintenance.I am missing certificates from previous purchases ,I've spoken with customer service thats was like talking to a kid on a play ground ,absolutely no help.I purchased something right before the expiration date for the points which is also a rip off scam for them to not dish out their promised certificates and anyway I was trying to tell the lady on the RZ customer service # that i felt fear to purchase anything within the month before and around their points expiration date but the lady said to keep purchasing that that wouldn't apply to these new future purchases,i also questioned them on there dates of expiration because the websites Q&A said that the reward zone points expired from a different date then the lady at the customer service line. Talking to them was confusing and misleading because needless to say i never got the points from those other purchases. Im fed up with their lies and misleading ways,I've sent a lot of money there,i am a single mom and i can't afford to be lied to.this reward zone card made me loyal to the store and sive had to fight for the measly $15 worth that I've gotten so far.they lost my business the last time i shopped there i pre ordered the new resident Evil raccoon city video game about a month or 2 before it came out for $5 they gave me my receipt then  told me that i only had between a 4 day time span from when it came out too buy the game or i would lose my $5 well i did lose it because I hadn't gotten paid in time to buy my game and that was the last straw,so I'm buying the game see where. They have lost my business for life and i will tell every one not to go there.I am very interested in a class action lawsuit please contact me  about it. by the way my uncle worked there for  a few years and they never paid him for his lunch breaks and after he quit someone else started a class action lawsuit and he needed up  getting a check for around $800 that will cover our stolen RZ points won't it ? hahaha and the person who wrote above me,against the suite works for best buy ill bet ;)

I had a similar experience

AUTHOR: Adam_me - (U.S.A.)

I've managed to earn Premier Silver status with Best Buy's Reward Zone program for 2 straight years. For those unfamiliar with it, this means I spent at least $2500 within a calendar year for 2 consecutive years. One of the advantages of the Premier Silver ranking is that you can bank reward certificates for as long as you maintain that status. For everyone else, the certificates expire after 90 days.

So over the course of the last year, I've been saving up all my Reward Zone bonus points and at last count had between $700-800 worth of certificates in my account. Out of nowhere however, BestBuy.com and their Reward Zone department decided to flag my account based on what they claimed was "suspicious activity" which meant that not only could I not order anything online anymore, but my entire Reward Zone account had been canceled. Those $700-800 in reward certificates are inaccessible. This is borderline fraud. You don't promise a customer gift certificates in exchange for thousands of dollars worth of purchases and then renege on the deal because of some arbitrary, manufactured excuse like "suspicious activity". Somehow I don't think Best Buy would take very kindly to a customer buying a bunch of expensive items on a payment plan and never actually paying for them.

Calls to Best Buy's 1-888 customer service number have been a waste of time. After long wait times, I get contradictory explanations and suggestions from their service reps and the supervisors are no better. After being told to contact different departments who in turn sent me right back to customer service, I was instructed to write a letter to their corporate office. Yes, you read that correctly. In the age of internet, e-mail, cell phones, texting, and IM'ing, I have to write a letter, pay for a 44 cent stamp, drop it off in the mail, and wait and hope for some sort of response from some random person at their Minnesota headquarters. This is completely unacceptable and arguably criminal. And to make matters worse, it's not an isolated incident. Perusing the Best Buy Community Forums reveals that at least a half dozen others are experiencing similar problems. Which means that someone at Best Buy Corporate is actually doing this intentionally to their customers. My efforts thus far to regain access to the reward certificates have been futile, but I can guarantee Best Buy this much. If they think they can treat me and other customers in this manner and expect to ever get my business again, they're in for a Circuit City-style rude awakening. No one in their right mind is going to spend thousands of dollars on TVs, computers, or appliances at a company that has no qualms about cheating people like this.

Class Action lawsuit for what????

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 15, 2010

You need to be clear what your complaint is before you can form a class action lawsuit.

Bear in mind...Best Buy has over 1,150 stores, and you think 126 rip off reports can conclude they are a rip off? Think about it...1,150 stores..open every day of the year...heck one store will probably seen 126 customers before lunch time on any given day. Not to mention this company was formed in 1966. Heck, I see more then 126 reports from companies that have been in business for less then a year and work out of a PO box.

And..are all these reports about stolen reward zone points? Can you kindly leave links to ANY other reports regarding stolen reward zone points so we can judge based on facts?

All this aside, if you can kindly state with some integrity and accuracy how your reward points were stolen, perhaps someone can advise you of any possible recourse. If you rant about class action lawsuits and there is no one else but you with this particular complaint..maybe you should try small claims court instead?

Don't forget..although this is a big giant corporation..they employ well over 100,000 Americans..and most of them are honest and hard working. You think it is easy to sell retail electronics these days with the internet to compete with where any schmuck can offer the same product working out of their basement..and then send nothing when you submit payment? Of simply close shop when enough disgruntled consumers want to return stuff or have warranty issues? Remember Circuit City?

Whatever has you so upset..can be solved. But it is up to you to be specific and not just rant that something was stolen from you. You want to accuse them of deceptive trade practices..well give us an example..we are consumer advocates and would love nothing more then to have a legitimate case.
