I was relocating from Chicago to San Jose for my new job and needs to ship my car. I asked for free quota on a third-party transportor website and several broker companies contacted me. Best Direct Shipping offered me the lowest bid and told me my car would be shipped on time. Jim Powers, the owner of this company, asked me to prepay $199 deposit from my checking account and gave me invoice with sales order #. After not hearing from Jim on the shipping date anymore, I researched this company and found many people had been scammed by him. He and his company never respond to phone calls, everytime the call goes to voice mail. He takes your deposit and not provide you with the services.  In fact, all other competitors will not ask you to pay any depsit until they get your car picked up.

If you been scammed by Best Direct Shipping, you should file a Ripoff claim with Federal Trade Commssision https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-3  Category: Scams and Ripoffs. Also, you can go to http://Safer.fmcsa.dot.gov, you will see a link "Licensing & Insurance" at the bottom of the website.  Then search on "Docket Number" by putting this number:  983093 and you will find Best Direct Shipping Insurance Info.  You can claim your loss under his insurance.

I was wondering if you can tell me how you got into contact with customer support from Best Direct Shipping. I basically had the exact same thing that happened to you happen to me, except my deposit was for $240. I would love to get this money back, as it is not a small amount. Please let me know.

Best Direct Shipping Refunds me the $199 Deposit quickly and their Customer Service Representative is helpful! I advise other customers to contact them for refund first before putting bad reviews!

I want to have a follow up with material change to my original report:

Best Direct Shipping did contact me after my scheduled shipping date, explained they were trying to get my driver within 24 hours, the transportation was delayed due to hurricane. After learning I'm flying out of Chicago on the same day, they offered to refund me the pepaid $199 deposit. Then four days later, they mailed a money order $199 to me.

Their customer service representiave is very helpful. They contacted me several times, and clarified misunderstanding I previously had about Best Direct Shipping. First of all, Jim Powers is not the owner of the Company, he's part of the customer service team. Second, Best Direct Shipping does refund cutomers the prepaid deposit, as long as you let them know you decide not to ship with them and want to get your money back. Then, they will refund you. I know there're other posts saying that Best Direct Shipping does not give them back the $199 after missing the scheduled pick-up date. But in my case, they did refund me. I think for customers who did not get their deposit back, they may just read other customers' posts, then decided they could not get back the deposit. They may not even contact Best Direct Shipping for the refund. In fact, they can get the deposit back.

I advise other customers to contact Best Direct Shipping for the refund before posting any bad review about them. Their customer service representatives are helpful and willing to resolve my concerns and questions!
