Best Price Moving And Storage Made my Corss country move a nightmare! Chicago Illinois

This moving company was chosen by Nationwide Relocation Services a broker for moving companies. I was assured that they were a good company and would handle my move without problems. However, once they finally arrived to pick up my household items, it became apparent that they rountinely underestimated loads in order to try to obtain more money from people at the end of their service. The truck that arrived was an "enterprise" 26 foot box truck. I was the third stop for this truck and the driver told me that both previous stops had been underestimated so they could not fit all of my belongings into the truck. They promised me that another truck would be sent out the next day to get the rest of the load. When a truck did not show up, I called the company. I was told that no truck was coming and if I wanted to have them come back out they would need a second contract and another deposit (I had already made a deposit of over $700) and then it would be up to two weeks before another one could be scheduled. I was so upset I told them to just deliver what they had so i could be done with them. That's when they told me that the weight was 2 times what I had said it was and so I owed them almost $2000 more than the binding estimate indicated.

If it were not for the Federally required booklet detailing what the consumer should expect from a moving company, I would have to pay 3 times the amount that was originally quoted to me for my move. As it is, I have had to borrow from family and friends in order to hire a second mover to bring my furniture and I still do not know when the rest of my belongings will show up.

Word of warning - Hire locally so you can talk to the person you are hiring - so they can walk through your home - so they will give you a correct estimate. Unless you work for a moving company or are a professional packer, you are not going to know how much weight you will have. This is a classic breach of contract on top of a bait and switch!
