I ordered an Alfred Sung bridesmaid dress described on the site as Peau De Soie (silk). I received the dress after waiting about three months and it is 100% polyester. There are no returns so I am stuck with a cheap knock off of the original. This is total false advertising and horrible business practice!

Now I am no expert on bridesmaid dresses or fabrics, so I looked up the definitions.

"Peau de soie" literally translated means "skin of silk". However when used to describe clothing and textiles, it typically "implies" silk or rayon fabric.

However I was curious if any 100% polyester fabric could be described as peau de soie. I went to a fabric distributors website "Lace & co." and found this..

"Ivory, Mystique Peau De Soi Satin, 100% polyester, 60 inches wide, soft shine finish, medium weight, excellent bridal quality fabric.
This fabric gives a nice, soft sheen to a wedding gown; good fabric for a flower girl dress or christening gown."

It never hurts to ask a seller questions about a product when it is not stated on the website BEFORE purchasing, as well as doing a little research first. From the website when looking at the Alfred Sung bridesmaid dresses peau de soie, it does not state anywhere if these are silk, rayon or polyester. Granted it would be less misleading if the seller would have state this on the website, technically you were not ripped off because the seller did not state which material the peau de soie dresses are actually made from. If silk or rayan were stated and you were sent a polyester dress, then you should have been able to refund it since would have been not as described.

Thinking the dress is silk was simply a wrong assumption on the buyers part. So yes..you are probably stuck with this dress according to the no refund policy unless they make an exception.
