Don't buy from Bidz.com - their so called return policy is a joke and they send you absolute GARBAGE!!! Here is my situation:

I purchased a three stone diamond ring that had a "compare to" price over almost $3000. That should be your first clue that there is an issue - according to Bidz.com customer service rep this does not mean a thing - it doesn't mean appraised value, it doesn't mean it is worth diddly squat. So don't pay attention to the BS that it is worth even what you are bidding on it because it is not.

I paid $300 for the ring, then I paid $33 for the so called Gem and Jewelry report which I might add doesn't mean a thing - see paragraph above, even to Bidz.com it doesn't mean a thing. Then I paid shipping of $34 or more to Canada, plus duty at the border another $45 or so. Lets see now over $400 now right - around $412 at least.

I get the ring and I am HORRIFIED by the condition of it. The setting is crooked, lopsided, doesn't even look like real gold, the diamonds are so cloudy and included they don't look like diamonds - in other words I wouldn't even let my dog wear this sucker, never mind sell it to anyone as an ENGAGEMENT ring. YIKES Needless to say, I couldn't even keep it to wear myself since it is so horrible, just atrocious - I show it to others and they agree it is a piece of crap, even at the price I paid, no one would ever purchase it under any circumstances and I am not about to ruin my ratings over this ring.

SO I call customer service at Bidz - a major hassle, and I am told that if the ring is "as described" which it wasn't since the setting was all crooked. and the diamonds were throwaways, I would only get a refund of 85% if the price I paid. PLUS - NO REFUND on the so called REPORT.

I wrote a letter with the ring, paid another $20 to ship it back and went on the site tonight to see what had happened with my refund - they will onlyrefund me $255 of what I paid so I lose $213 on the situation - I LOSE ALMOST 50% ON THIS PURCHASE.

NOW they will relist the ring and sell it to some other poor SUCKER. I am appalled by this. They are the biggest rip-off I have ever encountered. They are a publically run company that is listed on the stock market and I want to write to their stockholders to tell them they better sell now before more people figure out that they just want to rip people off.

I wouldn't recommend anyone to purchase stuff on this site. I explained the situation to customer service, wrote a detailed letter to the returns department and still I lose almost half of what I paid for this piece of crap.

Dont be a sucker like I was and remember if it seems to good to be true it is probably a rip off. You won't even get what you paid for the thing if you need to send it back. Some money back guarantee that is. DONT BUY FROM BIDZ, especially diamonds - even the most expensive diamonds are majorly included - read up on diamonds before you buy because their quality is absolute bottom of the barrel. If you want junk this is the place to get it and you won't get your money back.

No Problem

AUTHOR: R - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 11, 2011

This is in response to Freddi/Carol

I personally order quite a few items of jewelery from Bidz.com.  At no time have I ever had a problem with the items I've ordered.  I knew exactly what I was giving by reading the description of the item.  Case in point.

I ordered an 12.5 carat London Blue Topaz Ring.  When I received the ring, as I always do.  I took it to my jeweler to have him look it over.  Not only was the setting 14K gold but the topaz itself was very high quality.  Also the topaz was a darker blue than was pictured which made it perfect.

At no time, have I had a problem with questions on my orders.  I received a package that had been damaged in transit, and was missing 2 items.  I called customer service, we went thru the entire packing list.  The customer service rep gave me the choice of having my money refunded, or have the items sent back out.  I made the choice to just take the refund, which showed on my credit card account within 7 days.

This is my experience with them, and I will continue to order from them.

Just a suggestion....

Hi Carol,

I know this comes way too late to help you, but perhaps this information might help another.

If the transaction was paid with a credit card, and Bidz (or any other company) gives you problems regarding such a return, then always contact your credit card company prior to returning any merchandise.

In a case such as this, I would have taken the bogus 'gem and jewelry report', along with the ring, to a jeweler and asked them to write a note on letterhead stating the ring comes nowhere near the description on the report. This might cost a couple of bucks, but normally, they will not need to charge you for a full appraisal to know the item is junk. Regardless of whether Bidz wants to acknowledge this, or not, they would be bound to the contents on the report and the CC company would side with you. The only acception would be if the report blatantly states, "this piece of paper is worthless" (or something comparable). I do know for a fact that nowhere on the Bidz site does it state these are not worth the paper they are written on...as a matter of fact, this is what they DO say.....

'These reports provide reliable details such as the identification, authentication, content and weight of the gems or precious metals contained in an item. Reports will include an enlarged colored photograph which will show further identifying information. All gemological analysis for Bidz.com will be done at a highly qualified independent gemological laboratory.'

Now, does that or does that not say RELIABLE DETAILS???

Case in point, you would have won on the "item not as described" complaint and they would have to refund you in full, item + shipping (minus) customs fees.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier. Good luck!

Don't believe the rebuttal by Bidz.com

AUTHOR: Freddi - (Canada)

POSTED: Sunday, March 02, 2008

Just so all of you are aware Bidz.com in the rebuttal to my original post asks for further information on the transaction number and so on. I tried to log onto my account last night to provide that information and GUESS WHAT - big surprise - the have suspended my account! How convenient - now I cannot see what has happened with my return or anything of that nature. I guess it is time to go to my to report this company to another party which I won't mention as I do not want Bidz interfering with the action I am taking, as it is my only other option at this time. I refuse to allow this company to get away with this and I think reporting them to a large media outlet in Canada and possibly the US is my next move.
See you in the headlines!!!!

More twisted truth given as a rebuttal by Bidz.com - buyer beware - Read this before bidding!!!

AUTHOR: Freddi - (Canada)

POSTED: Sunday, March 02, 2008

For any of you that are considering purchasing merchandise from Bidz.com please read their rebuttal to my report. It only further clarifies the fact that they are unscrupulous when it comes to selling jewelry on their auction website for the following reasons:

1. They have a 100% money back guarantee ONLY IF THE ITEM IS NOT AS DESCRIBED - okay so it is basically their interpretation of the description, not what you actually see when you receive the item. To clarify this point, the setting was crooked and the diamonds were so included that they didn't even look like diamonds. This is not how they were described in the auction listing, however, when the ring was returned they said the ring "was as described". No way, sorry I would never have purchased the ring if it would have been acurately described as flawed, crooked and poorly made. So if you do purchase anything from Bidz, do not believe what is said about the item because it is your word against theirs in the end and guess what - they have your money - good luck getting it back.

2. When you receive a flawed item from Bidz.com you will be stuck paying all of the costs related to the purchase and they will not be refunded. The rebuttal maid by Bidz is alot of confusing misinformation - don't buy their rhetoric.

Canadian buyers can apply to have your duty refunded if you return an item, that is a simple process, but that is not what I was talking about in my original post. I was describing the fees and costs of shipping that are charged by BIDZ.com I found the shipping and handling fees to be very overpriced. The package is so small and light it should cost very little to ship it.

I am now purchasing jewelry from a reputable company in Texas and the shipping for over fifty pieces of jewelry is UNDER $10 - jewelry is small and light and Bidz ships their items in small plastic bags not boxes so the package is very, very small and barely weighs anything. If you buy any items from them you will find that they charge huge shipping and handling fees which they don't refund.

So buyer beware with Bidz - you will pay huge shipping and handling fees and will be stuck paying for them if you need to return the item and not only that you will not get what you paid for the item back.

3. My biggest concern with the rebuttal from BIDZ.com is that you cannot rely on the picture of the item to be an accurate depiction of the item that you are buying.
Okay so first of all their "compare to price" is not accurate and even they admit that and now the picture may not be accurate either. So you have to rely on the description of the item and their interpretation of the description of the item for accuracy. How can you determine what anything will look like from a description?
In other words they can send you any trashy piece of garbage jewelry and insist that it was "as described" and you won't get your money back. You also won't get your $33 you paid for the "so reliable" Gem and Jewelry report which isn't worth the paper or ink it is written with. They admit themselves that their COMPARE TO
price is not "necessarily" accurate but you are buying a piece of paper saying that the compare to price is X number of dollars? When I think about this I realize what a huge sucker I was to purchase this "Gem" !! Plus, surprise, NO REFUNDS on this nasty little lie printed up just for you. No, you are stuck paying for this ridiculous and worthless "report"!!

So as you can see, if you a person of intelligence, integrity and honesty, you will tbe very disappointed if you need to return an item to Bidz.com. The solution - DON'T BUY FROM THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE - BUYER BEWARE! Be consumer smart before purchasing from this auction by reading all of the ripoff reports that have been submitted by others who have had similar experiences. Don't take my word for it, take the word of the over 100 others who have shared their experiences with ripoffreport.com and if you still decide to purchase jewelry from Bidz.com I wish you luck because you are going to need it - remember a fool and their money are soon parted and that is the best way I can sum up my experience with Bidz.com
