My account was just drained of over $500 in forced debits by Bigpoint.com after I spent 12.99 for my child. Bigpoint's German number is constantly fast busy, calling from US racking up charges, I emailed support and havent heard a thing. I found their FB and posted there for them to contact me and screen shotted it because they keep deleting my post. THey refuse to deal with their customers who are being stolen from. Card is cancelled, charges disputed but from what I am reading on this company, it looks like I get to look forward to collections if I get my money back (45 days from the card issuer). I cannot believe a company is allowed to practice business like this. They took every penny I had in the account! THIS IS STEALING AND FRAUD!

My son just told me that he is speaking with someone in game and they said he would be banned if he submitted a complaint. This company needs to be shut down. Why a business located in SF only provides an international number to deal with issues (and you can't get through) is ludicrous. I demand justice!  From what I read it will be moot to talk to the people they put in charge of these issues.  I cannot believe I didn't do my homework on this company so I fail at that but still I should not be shut out by them in resolving this in a professional and mature business manner.  Beware of giving this company your credit card information, they will yank every penny you have and then make it hard for you to resolve it and ban your kid's account if you take it in that direction.  Not a good way of doing business but then again what a profit they made off of me in two days!  Scary stuff.  This is illegal.

Had samething happen

AUTHOR: Renee - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 16, 2011

I wish I had seen your report before I did the samething . I to thought I was being a nice parent and made a purchase for my of 29.99 ONLY . I made my payment threw paypal as I had never dealt with this company or heard of them .

So I make the purchase I then didnt make any kind transaction on the card . I go to dunkin dounts to get a coffee before work the next day . They say your card is declined  im like thats not possible run it again declined again. I call the bank and sure enough my bank acct was completely wiped out .

Before anyone says oh your kid did it Let me just tell you BS. My paypal is password protected I must put in my password my son is special and can hardly read . I have to do all this stuff for him he wouldnt be able to nor does he know my password.

These people at this site performed purchases against my acct till it was completely empty . Then when they couldnt get more they proceeded to put checks against my paypal  acct . Now there is NO way a kid who cant read could even think of doing that .

I as im writing this have 22 disputes threw paypal that they did against my acct . There was 3 more but the 2 checks for 299.97 and 1 purchase of 59.99 had not completed so paypal has refunded those back to my acct ( basically just stopped payment ) . All together they tried to get me for a little over 1800.00 . Stay far away from this company as possible .

Report:
I appreciate your help Ashley I really do but you are coming across as very accusatory at the same time.  Not only did my account have unauthorized use, the debits were forced through a second time (double dipped).  I submitted a support email and have yet to receive a response, it has been several days.  I am not in a situation to spend my days and nights calling Germany, I spent a long time already doing that and received nothing but a busy signal.  I have also posted requests on their FB page to contact me and they were hiding them all day yesterday.  My name was supplied to them in my support ticket as were my phone numbers and email.  NO ONE from Bigpoint has contacted me to discuss this.  That alone speaks of bad business practices not including double dipping charges that left me with 12 dollars in my account.  They tried putting through a 100 charge and at the end and actually altered the amount  to 29.99 on the second round of dipping maliciously so they could get as much as they could off the account, so explain all that.

I will try the number you provided but am not looking forward to the bad customer service this company has as it is already plastered all over the internet by others with similar problems that they refuse to deal with.  It smells of SCAM and I am pretty stressed out over it.  That was a lot of money to me and rent was due today.

Also, tell me why that when I pressed the button to not have my acccount information to my cc/debit card saved  when I made one purchase on 4/24 did it still save my account info?  Explain that.  Explain why you are accusing my child of stealing my money over a company that has obviously done this to many others, google is your friend.  When my son went online to to try to resolve it, or attempt to, they told him he would be banned if he submitted a complaint.  Oh so they steal my money and then ban an account for their own mistakes and maliciously stealing from me?   What sort of business practice is that?  I have never had this problem with Sony and look at what is going on with them.  Bigpoint is committing fraud, theft and subsequently, extortion.  FBI and AG are being informed.  My bank has been informed.  My bank actually called me about the second round of double dipping forced debit charges because i had already complained about the situation earlier to them and they had told me to wait for the charges to clear and contact bigpoint in the meantime before I could dispute them.  After my initial call, Bigpoint puts through the same charges (pending initially and subsequently cleared) a second time as a forced debit so they got all the money they could possibly get.

All in all, I appreciate your help but am not entirely convinced you are doing so with good intent as you keep insisting my child was the thief which after going through this is highly offensive to me.  I never authorized use of my card beyond the initial 12.99 purchase I made on the 4/24th, nothing else had my approval, not even the saving of my card info, which they still have because it can't be deleted now for some reason.  Makes no business sense except criminal.  If my son was said thief, I am pulling him out of school and putting him into hacking school asap, wink ;-/  because I know the school district here doesn't teach how to force charge debit cards.  My son was sick to his stomach when this was discovered as was I.   No personal offence intended but this is a legit complaint and Bigpoint is hiding out for good reason.  Good luck to them they will need it when I am through.

Just trying to help

Debits just dont magically appear on people's credit cards. They get there somehow. I've seen a lot of reports on this site with children involved where the parents swear up and down their little angel could never have done anything when the child actually did. Just keep that in mind, should be pretty easy to double check on your computer's web browser history just to make sure. Match up the date/time stamps on the charges, and look through the browser history.... If I were parenting your child, this would be something I would be doing anyways to check on my child playing online games to begin with.

The only other suggestion I have, is to go to the forums on their website. I can see when many site admins have talked to people about billing problems, they might be able to get in touch with someone for you. The only forms of contact I see for someone with this company is via the online support form or forums. Its not unusual for game companies like this to not have phone support. Even more-so with overseas game companies. You could try calling them, but remember its international and there will be a 6-10 hour time difference depending on where you are in the US. Here is the ONLY US number I could find digging through their website:

 1-866-295-6735

Forced Debits does not equal child misbehavior

Bigpoint is clearly stealing my money.  When I entered my cc info for the one purchase i made sure I unclicked save cc info.  Its a little bullet with a green fill in, if it didn't work then they set it up to keep the info.  Besides.  I went in to delete the information and it won't let me delete it.  So they are hiding behind shady operational practices as well.

also, I just went and made an account. When you fill out a form to buy something, and I see credits for 12.99$, by default it is set to the "fast pay" option when you sign up. This means your child could just click "buy more" any time they wanted to over and over again. You really should talk to your child about this, they aren't stealing your money, your child is likely the one doing it.

Were these debits over a period of time? It looks like those games sell in game items such as money that can be repeatedly bought over and over again. By entering your credit card number, you linked it t o your account. Your child would have then been able to just charge in game items and money any time they wanted. You might check with your child and see if they did buy in game items and money. If they did, you know why your were charged. Also if they did, the charges would be legit. You authorized your child to purchase the items by inputting the credit card number. Your best bet was to do a chargeback and cancel the card, but it won't make them go away.
