USDA reported, found out they run a CRAIGSLIST PUPPY MILL OPERATION

My family and I had an AWFUL experience with this "dog wash/filthy pet shop." We were looking for a new pet and found an ad that was describing a " breeder close out " that a retired dog breeder was going out of business and rehoming her well loved pets.

The ad read VERY well and we did not hesitate to contact since they had a few of the breeds we were interested in. After playing phone tag and talking to several different individual women my husband and I were directed to a "grooming shop". We were not told this was a pet store or a dirty, sadly ran pet store.

First, we were told the "elderly breeder" had relinquished a lot of small dogs to this woman, posing as a volunteer to rehome these sickly under weight, shaking and dirty little dogs. MY HEART BROKEN WHEN I ARRIVED.

When I say sick, these dogs were some missing eyes, ALL of them had poor teeth that were rotted and had infection in their gums and most of them had been newly groomed, and still stunk so badly I had to walk outside several times during my visit. My family and I were really saddened.

We asked the store associate (who actually turned out to be the friend/breeder of the situation) about the information of each dog, and vet worked. We were plainly told "I have no idea, I just work here". After much hesitation my children finally talked us into bringing home a small and obvious to the eye dog who was wheezing and sick. We were discounted a whole 25.00 off our purchase because the "associate" agreed she looked worse than the others.

I couldn't leave this 3lb little dog in that situation, and we had some weird connection as I had already told the kids "NO" at one point, she ran in her pen to get to me whining, while the others would run at the sight of a hand nearing them. There were 9 dogs in one small round pen, with paper shredded. There was feces and urine and the dogs had it in their fur with obvious fleas and irritation.

I saw a sign of hope at her reaction to beg us to take her. I OKed the purchase with my husband and kids. We were told we had to pay cash only, and the reciept machine was down and would be mailed shot records.

We NOW KNOW we got scammed by this "associate".

To shorten the experience, after a vet trip THE SAME DAY to find this dog was actually DIEING from heart worm infection so bad that she would not survive treatment, flea anemia and even worse, a gum disease that needed treatment immediately we called Blue Collar Pets and were turned to Michelle, THE OWNER of the store and were told we would not be refunded for the price of the dog, or help with vetting expenses and then she proceeded to cuss at me and tell me my "s****.>

I was never rude, hateful or once made and obsense gesture, despite my personal thoughts. This lady was awful.

790.00 dollars later, our dog Penny passed away from infection that traveled to her lungs that the antibiotics could not fight due to the severity of her extreme under weight little body and heartworm infection.

I will say, we were attached to her in the 7 days we had her and tried to do every best effort including syringe feeding, changing IV bags and cleaning her from vomit and urine that she would discreet because she could not help herself.

She for once, was inside, slept on a pillow in a bed with her 2 humans, had love from 3 children, ate warm food, went to the zoo for a day and had the best life and vet care, even if it was only for a week.

She will rest with us forever, cremated on our fireplace.

USDA was contacted and we have learned that these women have been doing this for some years and even worse, have been under investigation for illegally selling animals with out proper vetting and health.

PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT UNETHICAL OR INHUMANE BREEDING.
