I got a letter in the mail this week stating a very authentic Awards Notification Certificate from Blue Diamond JackpotLotto Publishers Clearing House, Readers Digest, Sweepstake& Internet Casino. I was also sent a very nice looking check for $3755.00. It had to be deposited by July 27th, then I was to notify the claims agent.

It also stated all prizes are to be kept confidential to avoid double claims. I got online and found the bank's phone number. I called, and explained what the check looked like, and gave her the number of the check, and the routing number. She informed me not to cash the check it was counterfeit. She gave me a phone number to fax the information to. So the check can be tracked down to the person who sent it. They will be charged will mail fraud.

The check was from Key Bank National Association
800 Main Street
Niagra Falls, NY 14301
Believe me I have my moment of being slow of whit, but not totally stupid. I sent a warnig to my internet friends, so far 3 of them have been hooked. You don't get something for nothing. Beware my friends, do not fall for this scam, warn all your friends

I had this happen to me twice now, I used to work at bank though so I took every precaution and found out it was fraud before it hurt me. I did talk to a Scottsdale police officer the first time, and he told to to let everyone know this, if the lottery that was supposedly won is from out of the country, it is ALWAYS a scam. Unfortunately, the police can't do anything about it either. So poor gullible people are still getting screwed out of their life savings with hopes of actually receiving the money promised.

I am really glad that you did not get scammed. You can read through reports on this site alone of the many people who have been taken. The scam preys on people who are greedy beyond a resonable sense.

Had you contacted the so-called claims agent, you would have been directed to deposit the check, and then wire a portion of the money to them for some sort of a fee. People still fall for this, because they are thinking that they still get to keep a portion of this check and that they will soon be getting much more.

It's really sad that people don't actually stop to tghink about this before they act. They end up sending the money to the so-called agent. The check eventually comes back to the bank as a bad check and the bank wants their money back from the depositor. At this point, many people mistakenly blame the bank for all of their woes....but they could have avoided the problems with a little commen sense and fore thought.
