In all actuality Robert, when the AG files a suit on behalf of consumers the money is placed in a special holding account monitored by the AG (a lien is placed on this account), and the money for the most part is guaranteed, or the company in question gets penalties added.

The only way a company may escape this is filing bankruptcy at which point 'case awarded plaintiffs get paid first' until the money runs out, and the plaintiffs are notified by the bankruptcy courts.  If the plaintiffs don't respond to the courts notification in a specified time, then the money goes forward to creditors & investers.

Where as a small claims suit is not a guarantee of payment.  It is my experience that a lot of these suits have to be forced to pay either by marshall's or judgment enforcer's like me.  Both of these get a bite at the apple.  Sad, but true that's just how our legal system works.

Putting it all in one lump, these people must contact the Maryland State AG or the state that they purchased from Blue Hippo.  I know for sure Nevada & Maryland have this suit active, but they must act upon it instead of complaining here.  Most people are closing their complaints with things like "we must take action", or "something must be done".

The fact is action was taken, and something was done.  Now they must do their part as I have explained several times here.

That perhaps a Small Claims Case won't get the full amount,  it is a gamble.  But there is no guarantee when the AG's would get any money from them and if there is enough money to go around. 

While 100% of something at some point later in time may be better than 30%-50% now.  That 30%-50% now would be better than nothing later if they go out and there is no money for the AG's to get.  So it is really up to the OP if how they want to proceed. 

Before posting your misinformed remarks Jetownsu, you should do a thourough reading of the complaint.  Your math is incorrect because you got the numbers, and the weeks all wrong as stated by Robert above me.

Secondly Blue Hippo is a known Scam company for quite some time.

Thirdly every conctract with Blue Hippo has an opt-out clause placed by two State Attorney Generals that has filed, and won suits against them.

Your statement would be beleivable if you brushed up on your reading skills.

Robert, I would not advise a small claims suit against this company because as devious as they are, they may not pay, and you would have to hire someone to force them to collect it for you, that would cost 30% - 50% of the judgment awarded.  Do it by the ongoing/active suit that is already in place.  The state Attorney General will see to the refunds.  All one has to do is get a hold of them.  Most of these scammed people can't afford a 30% - 50% loss due to judgment enforcing.

There have actually been several suits against Blue Hippo.  You should do an Internet Search to see what you can find.  If not you may find filing a Small Claims Case against them would get you your money back. 

The biggest RipOff is that that $3000 computer you were buying.  You could probably have found the same thing at your local Big Box retail store for $600-$1000.  That means that instead of paying them for the 8-15 weeks and still having more to go you could have saved it up and got it on your own with no extra money to pay.

As for the person who suggested math help, perhaps they need some reading help.  The OP did not state that they were making MONTHLY payments but WEEKLY payments.  It also was not $69 but $63 a week.  Now we don't know exactly when they were started or stopped but it appears that it was going on long enough to where it could have been almost $2,000.  Especially with the history this company has.

1) You entered into a contract to pay for this computer. Losing your job does not absolve you of that agreement, nor is it Blue Hippos responsibility to do so.

2) You made an initial payment of $99, and made payments of $69 every month from May 2008 - March 2009, for a total of $789.00. How do you figure they owe you $2000? Were the shipping fees $1211?

Your story would be more believable if you didn't make things up.

It amazes me that you are even writing this report.  Have you read anything here?  Information about this company is all over the net, and none of it positive.  I, and some others here have tried to aid people like you.  I guess it just falls on deaf ears.

After all the negative publicity that this company has, and you still go, and fall for it thinking you know better, then you get what you deserve.

This company has been shown on Good Morning America, and The Today Show about 8 months or so ago, the BBB has a negative report still on file since 2007, and several state Attorney Generals nailed this company in 2008.  Unless you have been living under a rock or in a cave, you should have known better.

Everything you wrote is a carbon-copy of the hundreds before you.  What did you think, now that you wrote this report people will listen to you?  Do your homework next time.  We're in the information age.  Use it.  Invest time before money.
