There are many companies, or people pretending to be companies, making billions of dollars a year from suckers like those posting reports here. When you wake up at three in the morning to take a leak, and see advertisements featuring the likes of Blue Hippo, what makes you want to call them and give them access to your money? With the down payment you give them up front,or over time (they do not send you the machine right away), you could have purchased a brand new, top of the line system.

Reading through these reports, I see stories of people having to close bank accounts, overdraft nightmares, and overall unsatisfaction. When someone uses the word guaranteed, and they are not standing at your doorstep waiting to demonstrate what they have to offer, you should simply run away-as fast as you can. I've been married to my wife for seventeen years. If she were to ever bring me a Blue Hippo advert, or anything similar, and seriously ask me to consider it, I would divorce her on general principal. You people should know better. If you have money to throw away, throw it in my direction.

As for the BBB and other government agencies- they are busy enough looking after the interests of consumers with real problems-not problems induced by lack of judgement and general stupidity. They are not going to help you. And why should they? To them, it's the same as ice skating uphill.

It's an election year people, tighten up. Baltimore officials- check the water- quick. The citizens are drinking stupid juice.

Harsh, but he does have a point...

Let me say that I hate Blue Hippo and companies like it. These are the real ripoff companies that make it difficult for people to get on top of their financial situation. Look at these prices, $2,100 or more for a $600 computer?!

You have to pay for six to thirteen weeks before you even get the computer?!

Only about a third of their orders have been shipped?!

This company is the very definition of financial exploitation or... a ripoff.

Run the numbers- By the time you've made the required number of payments, you've almost paid the equivalent value for the computer anyways. Everything else you pay for the rest of that year is just interest.

My advice- go on eBay. There are a number of reputable sellers who refurbish PCs and install an operating system on them. It won't be a new computer, but it will be decent enough to get by. I once bought an HP desktop with a 2.66Ghz processor and Windows XP Pro for less than $150. Get a monitor on Craigslist, a yard sale or at a thrift shop.

Take those weekly payments that you would have given to Blue Hippo and stick it in savings until you have enough to get the computer that you really want. It will be far cheaper in the long run.

The fact of the matter is this report did not help anyone, as this comment may not either. But a lot of people due perform their own due diligence and check these company's out. If a company is crooked and out to get money they will stop at anything! So why call people stupid? If the resources such as BBB were used and someone still gets ripped off, who's fault is it? So go back into that cave where everything is perfect and nothing can happen to you. With that attitude it will!

YES, LACK OF KNOWLEDGE, JUDGEMENT, AND BEING INFORMED AND RESEARCHING THE COMPANY --I AM GUILTY! BUT I AM NOT RETARDED NOR NOT STUPID FOR FALLING FOR THIS SCAM. BLUE HIPPO HAS TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE AND THAT'S NOT FAIR. FOR SOMEONE TO LEAVE A RESPONSE LIKE YOURS HAVE NO BALLS OR SENSITIVITY TO ALL OF THE BLUE HIPPO CONSUMERS THAT WERE TAKEN FOR THEIR MONEY. IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN IN OUR SHOES, DON'T LEAVE MESSAGES BASED ON WHAT YOU WOULD DO OR MAKE US FEEL LIKE WE ARE INCOMPETENT PEOPLE-- BEING MARRIED FOR 17-YEARS DOESN'T HAVE A d**n THING TO DO WITH THE BLUE HIPPO COMPLAINTS--AND FOR YOU TO SAY THAT YOU WOULD DIVORCE HER IF SHE HAD MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT BLUE HIPPO TELLS ME THAT YOU ARE A JACK a*s! JUST LET THE BLUE HIPPO CONSUMER BE!!!

If you are really in need of a computer, really avoid services specializing in poor credit (Aarons/RentAcenter/Blue Hippo) and try to see what you can get from companies like Dell Financing, A Small Local Bank, and if you desperately need a computer (I don't recommend this) see if you can get a credit card with an introductory interest free period.
