I set an appointment to come in and interview with Blue Lion Marketing for "a Marketing position that had upward mobility potential and which closely matched my resume profile which had 10-15 years of Sales Managerial experience." The "hiring Director" Teshauna was extremely vague and unwilling to provide any details over the phone which was my first clue that this place was less than reputable. I figured "why not" and decided to give this company a chance regardless.

Well... When I walked in, the office looked as unprofessional as the staff sounded. Dirty blue walls, furniture that looked like it was picked up off the side of the road, ceiling tiles with water leak stains, and an empty receptionist desk that had rubbish piled on top of it. I could hear the staff loudly training personnel to practice their sales pitches for going door to door. After the endless practice of door knocking and speeches, the group assembled in a small conference room and chanted loudly for ten minutes "We are Winners, we are Winners".. It was actually funny to listen in.

My recruiter was 30 minutes late for interview and when I got into the room with him, he excused himself to talk to some gentlemen standing in the hallway for five minutes. When he came back he glanced down at my resume (didn't read it) and offered me a job going door to door, commission only, no benefits and no other incentives. When I said no, he then offered me a part time position as the receptionist for only 4 hrs a day. Once again I said no and then inquired about the position i was called about; and whether he was aware that people are being "baited and switched" for the purpose of bringing people in.

The vibe that I got was that he could've cared less about what I was saying. Needless to say, I was totally disgusted and left. As I got into the elevator I sighed loudly and the gentleman standing next to me inquired what I was so distressed about. I informed him of the experience I just had and he smiled at me and said; "I hear that ALL the time from people who leave that office. I work next door and you wouldn't believe some of the things I've heard people say about that place." This was definitely a learning experience. I wish I had done my homework about the company before driving there and wasting my precious time. Hope this saves somebody out there some gas money. Peace.
