Buyer Beware! If considering purchasing a timeshare with ANYONE but especially Bluegreen, here are some things to consider. First of all, DO NOT allow them to pressure you! In fact, if you wait - until YOU are ready, you may actually receive some bonus items you hadn't planned on. Don't bank on the "Free Airfares" however. They require a "7 night stay at their hotels and these cost several hundred dollars a night." Times 7 nights that's outrageous and your far better off buying your own airplane tickets and going wherever you want to stay. Most importantly, take time to read complaints posted by other buyers, their development reports and even inspect the property before you buy as well as read all other literature and, make sure the brochures and booklets you receive are CURRENT (as mine were not!).

Even though I repeatedly asked if the books and pamphlets we received were current and up to date, and I was assured numerous times that they were, they indeed were not. This screwed up plans I had for an upcoming trip which was one of the biggest reason I bought in the first place! (to recoup hotel fees with the Traveler Plus program). I had used travel monies from my upcoming vacation as my down payment on the purchase of the timeshare.

I discussed my concern with doing so with the sales people who all but assured me I would be able to recoup in with the savings (50%) off of the Hotel rates at my destination. What they failed to tell me was that I would NOT qualify for the discount for 45 days which would not be before my departure or during my vacation! So, no discount and no "recouping" my money. I was scammed.

The Moutain Run staff assured me that the next trip I had planned (after the 45 days of receipt of my Travel Plus Membership) would be "All set...we'll be sure your taken care of....we are so sorry that happened...(blah!..blah!...)..." Guess what!? Another lie. Not only did they not ensure I received a discount on my Hotel, they withheld information that the hotel I had been planning on staying at was NOT in their program even though it was listed in their Entertainment Hotel book. THe information was obsolite!

I called the Hotel myself only to find out from the hotel that "bluegreen put their name in their book without their prior consent and the hotel dissolved their contract with bluegreen." Moutain Run staff were amazed to learn that they had given me an old book! (Recall that I had repeatedly asked them if the booklets were all "current" and was told "yes.") This error, and misrepresentation by bluegreen cost me an additional $1,000.00 in hotel expenses over a weeks time (as I was sure that was where I wanted to stay and looked no further).

I needed a place with a kitchen and the book had only two. I selected one which was far more than I had anticipated having to pay but thought I had a discount coming. The Mountain Run Q.A. people stated that their "Big manager" (who was nameless by the way) wanted to be involved in problem resolution. However, after several calls to the Moutain Run office, and Bluegreen Corp.offices, I have not heard from ANY of them as to what resolutions they want to work on. Some guy named "Gerry" from Corporate called me and said "we are working on it (my concern)." But, after I made several calls to Customer Service, Owner Services, Mountain Run Q.A./Mgrs., I am being ignored.

I have emailed them and asked for restitution. I have offered to dissolve my relationship with them if they took their membership back and gave me a full and immediate refund. None of which I have heard a response on. I am very tempted to sue them as I was misled and outright lied to. I don't appreciate making a $9,000.00 purchase and then being blown off IMMEDIATELY thereafter! It cost me $800.00 dollars down payment and another $1,000 in lost discounts I am supposedly entitled to as a Bluegreen owner.

What kind of business would treat their customers this way?? Where is the service? Furthermore, we were NEVER told where our deeded property would be until AFTER we signed the contract. The property is The Fountains in Orlando. We will probably never even see it as I understand from reading other cites that getting time at the deeded properties is almost impossible to get. I was hoping to bank my points for my daughter destination wedding and my sons upcoming wedding. I suppose this is another misrepresentation and I have ABSOLUTELY NO FAITH that this will ever come to fruition.

I regret my purchase and I close with the same words I opened with: "BUYER BEWARE." I was SCAMMED! And, I know I am not alone. Far too many complaints are lodged all over the web on this company. Look elsewhere or, even better save your money and go where you want, when you want and when there are REAL deals out there. I wish I had.

A Bluegreen owner

I am a very happy Bg owner, if you wish to complain to the "top" people go to the Bluegreen website (not bluegreenonline that is the vacation club) google it u will get the web address you will find on there a list of directors etc.
I would never use Travellers plus to book hotels you are much better to use one of the many hundred web based discount hotel sites ie hotels.com the Travellers plus discount is on the FULL rack rate of the room so even with you discount its still more expensive.
Please remember that you bought into a TS not a discount hotel group Travellers plus is just an add on

Deeded week Most of the people who complain about this on here do not understand the concept of the BG points System, the most important fact you need to remember is that it is the number of points you have not where they are deeded.
The resort you are deeded at is directly related to the number of points you bought and how they fit into the available BG inventory.

Lets take The Fountains as an example (since this is where your deed is)
To stay at The fountains you need for 1 week (7 nights) the following number of points

of peak 13000 peak 16000

How many points did you buy? lets say 8000 so your 8000 points fits neatly into The Fountains inventory ie you will have a deed that says building number unit number and then x or Y on the end (one is Fri,Sat,Sun the other is Mon,Tue,Weds,Thurs) both these packages will use 8000 points
Now I have explained that I hope you are clearer on how and why your deed is at The Fountains

Having said all this what is important is the number of points this determines you "buying" power ie how many nights, when, and size of units etc
If you go online to www.bluegreenonline.com and register when you enter all you account details are infront of you and also all the resorts and all the points tables)
I keep stressing that it is the number of points and not where they are deeded, this is because you can use your points at all of the resorts.
You can book any number of nights at any resort (with the exception of those not fully owned by BG which require full weeks) 11 months out (2 night minimum apart from Charleston which is 1 night)
You also have the option to book a low value week and then bank it with RCI which will then give you 2 years to use it (I have known people to use 3000 points this way then transfer back in BG resorts via RCI and infact this person did a RCI exchange to The Fountains)
If you do not use all your points you can hold them over as saved points for 1 yr but you can only use them on red weeks and below, you can also pull forward your points from the next year.

Hope this explains how things work but please join the Bluegreen Group on Yahoo, there are many people within this group who can explain far better than I can

Most of the complaints on here are due to the fact people do not fully understand how to get the most out of the points

Regards
Phillip
