Beware Bluegreen Resorts! I can no longer sit passively by after my experiences with this timeshare vacation company. They engage in false, misleading and deceptive acts and practices by using hard sell tactics and misinformation to convince you to enter into loans and timeshare contracts that they lock you into for life! I thought that they only did it to us, but after we expressed how unhappy with our interactions with them, I searched the internet for Bluegreen and it turned up report after report of how much of a fraudulent and deceptive company they are when it comes to sales that induce you to obligate you to a lifetime of worthless timeshares with fees that increase every year! I have made it my mission to warn others about their practices by launching an online campaign: #bewarebluegreen. I will not stop until I have exercised every means I can to ensure that this company and its tactics are formally investigated. 

Here's our story:

While on vacation, we were subjected to a lengthy presentation and facility tour. Originally, we were promised that the entire timeshare presentation experience would be 90 minutes, and then we could go back and enjoy our vacation. However, we were in the timeshare office no less than 4 hours! We were trapped! We had not eaten, and we were not fed. Well, they managed to convince us to buy a timeshare. However, the only reason that we purchased the timeshare was because 1) we wanted to get out of there and enjoy our vacation - the real reason we were in Savannah and 2) we felt that it offered great profit potential. During the original presentation, the sales-people told us of several stories in which Bluegreen timeshare owners rented out their timeshares for up to $800 per night during popular weekend festivals in Savannah, causing the owners to make great profit and be able to pay off their timeshares and maintenance fees early.  

We purchased the timeshare for the primary purpose of family vacation time. However, the reason that we deemed it a feasible [affordable] purchase and a good investment was because we were assured by the sales people that some of the time that came with our timeshare could be sold as a means of paying off the timeshare in only two or three years. After this, our family could enjoy the timeshare for a lifetime, only having to pay the annual maintenance fees. Hearing this, we took the bait.

Guess what? I posted it for sale just like they said, and this is when I found out - like so many others who had the same idea of renting out their property - that the timeshare was worthless. As a result, I was never, ever able to get anyone to purchase the timeshare. It was cheaper for people to get a five-star hotel than rent my worthless timeshare!

Once we expressed to the company the worthlessness of the timeshare - something that they already knew but had failed to communicate to us - it was too late. They had locked us in for a lifetime. For the rest of our lives, we are locked in to not only paying hundreds of dollars every month for something that we cannot use or rent out, but we have to pay annual maintenance fees that go up every - single - year. With all that we have to pay to Bluegreen for the timeshare (which is limited to the U.S. and not to the Caribbean or international spots), we could afford a five-star vacation anywhere around the world! They care nothing about this. They will not allow you to get out of the timeshare contract without extensive damage to your credit, collections, legal fees, etc. What a ripoff bluegreen is... and I am determined to let the world know!
