Back in December 2015 I received a call from Bluegreen Vacations telling me that I had won a cruise and a 3 night vacation at one of their resorts. The only catch was that I had to attend a two hour presentation where they would try to sell me a timeshare.

The only requirement was that I was either a home owner or made at least $60,000 a year in gross income. At the time I met one of their requirements so I went ahead and set it up. I ended up paying them a total of $298.00. I have listed the two issues below. If someone wants more details feel free to message me as I would love to spread the "good news" about bluegreen vacations.

The issues are listed below:

Issue #1: They offered me discounted Disney tickets which, after checking Disney's website, did not actually look any different than what Disney would sell them for. When I pressed customer service on this issue they seemed to either not understand or avoid admitting that they probably don't actually give truly discounted tickets. I went ahead and refunded them since I felt like they had not been completely transparent about their discounts.

Issue #2: At the time I accepted the offer I met BlueGreen's minimum income requirement. However, my resort stay that I had scheduled in Orlando was set for April 2016 which is when I was also leaving my job. This means that I would temporarily not meet their income requirement.

Blue Green called me about mid-march to confirm my appointment date and asked me once again if I was making their minimum income requirement. At the time of the call I was in fact still making the minimum income requirement. However, because I wanted to make sure I was being honest I disclosed that as of 4-1-2016 I would no longer be making that income because I was switching jobs.

I was told that due to this they were going to suspend my vacation. I was pretty pissed (I had planned this for months) so I asked to be transferred to customer service so that I could ask for a refund. Customer service told me that since it had been more than 30 days since I paid that I could not receive a refund.

So basically - I cannot use the vacation that I paid for but I also cannot receive a refund because it has been longer than 30 days. How much do you want to bet that BlueGreen is going to sell the nights booked for the hotel room that I PAID FOR to someone else?

BlueGreen told me that if I ever made the minimum income requirement again within a year or so I could once again take the vacation.

To be quite honest it was a piss poor customer service experience. I am being charged for goods that I cannot take advantage of because of an income change. In addition, since I still met the requirements when BlueGreen asked me about the income requirements I technically did not have to disclose anything.

I did disclose the changing income information because I wanted to be honest. BlueGreen though apparently does not care about building a relationship with future customers. BlueGreen would rather make $300 now and risk a plethora of issues than do right by their customers.

Sincerely,

A customer whose money you are holding hostage.
