Ordered boat accessory from the website and was called by someone from the company stating the part was out of stock. They tried to sell me a different product stating that it was equivalent, although it was not. I told the representative that the product was not equivalent and that I would buy elsewhere and would like to cancel the order. The representative told me the order was cancelled.

A few days later, I checked my bank statement and saw that my card had been charged.  I attempted calling and emailing repeatedly without response. The website states that they have been in business since 1988, but I found that March 2, 2012 was the establishment date on www.ishcc.org. Also, I found that the address provided is a single family home in a neighborhood without a storefront.

Incidently, the bank notified me that my card has been used fraudulently in the last two days in an attempt to purchase something in a different state and internationally. It is unknown whether this has any connection to boatforless.com, but I cannot rule that out.

Finally a response

Thank you for responding here on rip off report.  I would have liked a response to one of the 3 e-mails I have sent since I placed the order.  Or a call back after the voice-mail I left.  My e-mail notification of the refund came just before your response here. I was unsure if the fraud on my account had to deal with this or not.  Since you have responded and refunded my money I feel that the fraud on my card has nothing to do with boatforless.com.   I would however like to point out the reason I felt like it was a scam, and felt the urge to report here.

1.  There is no address listed on the website.  On the ABOUT US page it states the following:

"BoatForLess is a full service retail establishment with fulfillment points throughout the continental
United States. We opened our doors in 1988 as a full service dry stack marina on the Mississippi River and have since grown to be one of largest suppliers of boat parts and accessories in the country. With over 25 years of retail experience our customers are assured of the highest standards in service and product quality"

2. Where is the dry stack marina?  Your address listed with the Florida Dept. of State is a residential address with no storefront?  Of course if you do have an address and a marina on the Mississippi, then please put it on the website!

3. In your response you state that your company has over 4 warehouses.  Where are they and what are the addresses.  Things people would like to know so they know you are a legitimate company.

4. If I have a return where would I send the product to? There is nor actual address listed.  Can you see why I was getting worried.  Of course a call back or e-mail is all that is needed to keep this from happening.  I just had the feeling like you stole money and would not respond.   A little communication goes a long way.

You can respond all you want but these are all legitimate questions consumers will want to know.

We greatly apologize you feel you had a bad experience with us.  Regarding your order;  The item you ordered was no longer available from the manufacture.  We contacted you immediately after the order was placed to inform you of this.  A customer service representative spent ample time on and off the phone with you, to find a GPS MAP that had everything you needed.

We went well out of our way to try and accommodate your needs.  After having us track down the correct replacement model to fit your needs, you then proceeded to price match vs. Amazon on the phone.  You decided that Amazon was cheaper, and you could receive it faster due to being an Amazon member.

We gladly agreed to cancel your order so you could order it from Amazon.  We then informed you that a refund would be issued, and it can take up to 5 business days.  Your money has already been refunded for the order.  I am not sure why you chose to go this route after we greatly tried to help you with the product you needed.

In regard to your slander; Our business has been operating since 1988.  Boatforless.com  is a domain - It has been around since 1998.  It was re-established in 2012 with a new web host.  I am not sure what you are insinuating, our company has over 4 warehouses across the country with access to over 30,000 parts at any time with various vendors.

As far as your insinuating comments, especially that we had anything to do with your credit card fraud is slander.  We use the largest web authorization company on the net, managed by google. Our site is 100% safe, and we are proud of our reputation to go above and beyond to meet our customer needs!
