Martin Edelson sent out a "free trial" book offer, and I ordered a subscription, but sent a cancel order before the first book arrived. I Fought with them about their continued and in- sistent billings for about six months, and vowed never to order another thing from Bottom Line Books!

That was several years ago. This year I softened and ordered their 2008 "yearbook". It arrived, and I paid the $25.90 invoice when it arrived in February. Now, in March, I received a second invoice. Now they're demanding $30.90 for the same book. They do not put their telephone number on correspondence, figuring, I suppose, that fewer people will write than would call. I will write, and will send the yearbook back to them, with a demand for the $25.90 already paid. Chances are slim that I'll get anything back. But I write a newsletter on the net, and a bunch of folks will know about the sort of experiences I have had (twice) with this guy and his books. I learned my lesson the first time, but relented this year, hoping they had gotten honest over time. Boy was I wrong!

I suspect lots of folks have been cheated in one way or another by Bottom Line Books. I urge any who have such experiences to complain to their State Attorney General, who is supposed to investigate fraud cases. The Better Business Bureau is worthless in this regard, but it might be interesting to see if the USPO is still involved with instances of mail fraud, which this very well could be, especially if there are quite a few folks complaining about Martin Edelson and his apparently shady outfit.

I have known Martin Edelston for the past 14 years and found him and his publications to be above board. His integrity and intelligence remain unparalleled, in fact extraordinary. One man's complaint from a small town in Ohio does not deserve to tarnish the reputation of Mr. Edelston. We are all allowed to make a few mistakes in life.
