I had a service technician come over to check on my pilot as it had gone out for the first time since I owned the house. The guy looks at it briefly and tells me there are some hairline cracks in the heat exchanger.
He shuts off the furnace and refused to turn it back on even though the temperatures are headed towards freezing.
He then tells me that they install $3000.00 dollar systems and asks me if I want an appointment. I tell him I'll think about it over the summer. I then paid for the service call and politely implied that he should get off my property.
When I contacted Lennox, the furnace manufacturer, they said that a visual inspection alone like he performed was not adequate to guage an entire heating system. Beware of this scam from this company.
