Auto Glass Scam

Mr. Chesley knocked on our door saying that he was a neighbor and he had seen the crack in our windshield. Of course I've never seen him before. He also claimed to have done 3 other neighbors car windshields, also that their company was a preferred auto glass repair company with Geico, and that they do "all the glass" for a few prominent dealerships. I was hesitant as this is a prominent insurance fraud scam, especially leery as he came door to door.  He is a very persistent scamming salesman. The only reason why I even agreed to the work order was that I had a $0 deductible on auto glass with my insurance and he claimed it would be done "tomorrow morning". I kept saying that if he could get it done by tomorrow morning I would do it. He even put down on the work order "first job". Now their work order has time like 8am-1pm for time of service. So I was up at 7:30am ready for someone to show up. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited to 12:30pm and called Mr. Chesley on his cell phone. He of course said that "this is unlike the installer" and will try to track down the installer and call me back. 15 minutes later he calls to say they can't get a hold of him. I then said that I will have to cancel the work order. His response was "what because he's late" I had to say yes...that is business. And considering he is not late; he didn't show up. He then said "what if he was in an accident?" I mentioned that if that was the case present a police report to that affect and I will reconsider. And then Mr. Chesley Hung up on me. I called the the phone number for 2 U Car Care on the work order and spoke to a gentleman named Mike. He was more understanding and apologized for the false expectation of his "associate". Only a few moments after that a gentleman named Chris called saying that he was the installer and that it looks like he missed our appointment. I mentioned to Chris that I have cancelled the work order. I am further checking on Brad Chesleys claims about working with prominent dealerships. I know I was gullible. But hopefully this will help others not fall prey to Brad Chesley's Auto Glass Scam.
