On October 31, 2009 My husband and I purchased a new Chevy HHR from Brad Francis Chevrolet in Los Lunas, NM. On Nov.7, 2009 the vehicle's steering wheel locked up and the car died. We had to push it off the street and wait for OUR own road side assistance to come tow the vehicle back to the dealership. They charged us for the tow because the dealership is over 50 miles away. Four days later, on Nov.11, 2009 the dealership told us we could "borrow" another car, because it would be a couple of weeks before they could repair the electronic starter on the car. We called them over the next 10 days and kept asking when the car would be done, they finally told us on the 10th day that it had been ready for a couple of days and all we needed to do is drive there with the "borrowed" car and we could have our car back.

Now mind you, we are paying to drive there and back, a one-hundred and twelve mile round trip. We picked up our car on Nov.22, 2009 when they promised us we would get some "perks" for our trouble, a dash mat. I said we would really like floor mats and they told us that would be no problem; we would receive the mats in two weeks. By Christmas we had still not recieved the mats, so I called and they told us the mats were on the way. In January the 4 month "free" oil change was due, so we drove to the dealership for our 2 p.m. appointment to have our oil changed, we were given our car back at 5:15p.m, and still had no car mats for our trouble. They told us that day they were sent by UPS. On January 8, 2010 we finally actually did get the mats and a dash mat via UPS.

On January 16, 2010 we were driving our new HHR down the street when suddenly the  powering steering went out and all the gages started jumping all over the place; we pulled the car off the road with great strength and the car died. It would not re-start. We called the dealership and they told us it sometimes had to be "reset- due to the type of computer." We waited and waited- it would not start. We got a ride home and then went back the next morning to the car, on the side of a road, and by some miracle the car restarted, but now the engine light was staying on. We called the dealership and they told us to "just wait, it would clear from the screen." Several days of the same problem went on, the power steering would go out and the gages would run rampid, so we insisted the dealership come get the car. They told us we would have to bring it to them! So, we set out to take the vehicle on a 56 mile trip to the dealership and the power went out TWICE on the way. When we arrived their sales man abruptly got into the car , while I attempted to take my seatbelt off he drives away with ME IN THE CAR~ explaining that my husband was aware that he was going to test drive the car with me in it.

My husband wanted to know where in the H*** that man was taking me!!! 15 minutes later we returned to the dealership and my husband was furious. The man from the dealership acted like it was no big deal. In the meantime another sales rep had gotten my husband another car to "borrow." My husband and I got into the shiny red, attention getting car and drove back home. Less than 1 week later the car was stolen from OUR DRIVEWAY!! HHHHMmmmm.... I have to ask myself!! Who did this??? We reported the car stolen. The police found it not 2 two miles from our home. We have now been without any car for over two weeks. They have had our Chevy HHR for three weeks. Not once have they called us to tell us what is goin on, nor have they provided us with any vehicle to drive, but I am still paying $500.00 a month to have it. We call and leave message after message and they claim the person we need to speak with is absent or in another building and "they'll call back momentarily." It is 12:20p.m. and we are waiting for a call that was supposed to be in fifteen minutes at 11:10a.m. We have called back 3 times!!!! Still, no call, no car!

Brad Francis Chevrolet accepts no responsibility

AUTHOR: hyvonnea - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, April 15, 2010

Once again we are dealing with HHR car problems. After our "new" vehicle was in the hands of Brad Francis Chevrolet for SIX-6 WEEKS they explained there were computer problems, which IS covered on our warranty. They charged us $450.00 for the so-called repairs, but the car is doing the EXACT same thing. I have contacted the dealership by phone and e-mail several times, but they are playing the same games as last time. No return calls, nor e-mails. I have finally contacted a lawyer regarding the lemon and they are going to file a suit. I can't express enough how disgusted and sad I am over the whole situation. Brad Francis is an untrustworthy, stereo typical car dealer. Sadly, Chevrolet has ruined my faith in the American car.
