I  saw this company advertised by a news report, so I signed up.  They set me up with a web site, which looks nice,  but that was it.  It cost me almost $500.00 total to start up this endeavour with them.  I immediately started getting at least 10-15 emails a day fro people namedJason, Benjamin, Matt,  Dan and Thomas.  All of them just sent me " incredible don't miss this video or opportunity to see or sign up for.....   Every single sight was another person who " made it big on the internet usin this special program, which only costs.... (varied from email to email) .  Usually around $47.00.   NOT ONE TIME have I been contacted on how to naigate Brain host or their c/panel.  They just took my money and left me stranded.  I sent EVERYONE of thesepeople a request for help, INCLUDING both the support phone ( which never was answered) and the support desk.   I am a nurse, not a webmaster. All I wanted was some help with what to do.  I have received NONE.

Giving away customer information

AUTHOR: Michelle - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, October 19, 2012

I apologize if I was not clear in my previous response. Please let me clarify, when a customer is referred  to our company for hosting, this can happen through another company (or service provider). That company is the company that may send the customer emails regarding their different promotions.

If the customer is unhappy with our hosting services, of course we do not want to lose their business, however, we are happy to provide the customer with a refund. We strive to provide excellent customer service to all of our customers.

Admission of giving away customer information?

AUTHOR: 5YearWinter - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, October 18, 2012

Michelle, your reply is quite strange.  First of all calling yourself the "service provider" is very odd.  You are the service provider.  You represent BrainHost and that is who the complaint is towards.  Just say "we" or "us".

Next you say the following that is very scary.

"Please understand that we do not send you large amounts of emails per day, this is most likely due to other companies attempting to contact you due to your recent purchase with your service provider."

So you say your company is not sending the emails but other companies are due to the purchase the customer made through your company.  How did these other companies obtain the customer's email address?  It almost sounds like you are admitting to giving away customer information.  And this is just an assumption but your company is probably selling the information.  While not illegal it is very slimy.  I'm sure you probably protect yourself by stating in your TOS something along the lines of how you do it and yes it is the customer's responsibility to read the TOS but man that is low.  I've never seen a company just openly admit to giving away customer information to other companies as nonchalantly as you just did.

I hope the author gets her money back and just some advice.  There are lots of companies out there now that are trying to bring in people to make websites by saying it's easy and a way to make some extra money.  In this economy who wouldn't like extra money.  But the thing is that websites are not that easy.  Sure to someone that went to school for it or has been working with them for years it may seem so but for the average person it's a new language.

A real web hosting company is not going to make you any empty promises about how easy it is to make a site or how much money you will make.  A matter of fact a real web hosting company will not make you any promises at all.  If you are looking to get a site made I recommend finding legit developer and let them recommend you a hosting company.

Provider Emails

AUTHOR: Michelle - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 12, 2012

I apologize that you have had such an issue with your service provider. Please understand that we do not send you large amounts of emails per day, this is most likely due to other companies attempting to contact you due to your recent purchase with your service provider. You can usually unsubscribe to these emails. I am also sorry that you have not received help with accessing your cpanel, we do have tutorials that walk you through how to do this (http://www.brainhost.com/cpanel-help/). As well as other tutorials. Please understand that we are a web hosting company and all that is required in order to have your website live with us is a hosting plan and of course your domain name. Please feel free to contact us, we will be happy to assist you.
