On August of 2011, I signed up for a website after seeing an interesting: MAKING MONEY FROM HOME ad. I supposedly needed a website. So I was led to BRAIN HOST, where I paid for a 2 year package. Quicker than the wink of an eye, $181.75 was taken from my credit card.  Later, I was not satisfied with the service, due to the fact that I had no info or contact with the Make Money from Home Business. I cancelled my account and they said that at the end of the 2 year period, I would no longer be billed.

Well, I assumed my website was cancelled. When I decided one day to look it up on Google. Lo and behold, my website pops up with an excellent ranking. When I continue to investigate, I find that my website is being used as a server to host thousands of other domain names. I found a company from Canada owns it and also an IP and a database.   So, someone has a pretty nice little, illegal income thanks to my website.   And don' t you tell me BrainHost has nothing to do with it.   Someone can make a pretty profit by flipping this website if they have'nt already done it already.  So I admit it I was taken  for a big ride by this bogus company. To who do I complain? Well, your guess is as good as mine!

You clearly do not understand how the Internet works

AUTHOR: Michelle - (United States of America)

And above all, that's the main problem.

"there are more than 5000 domains under my domain name" That is not possible. It's just not how the internet is structured.

If you got a free website made for you then "which is my intellectual property" is not an argument that you can make because you were not involved in the creation of anything that is on the site. Your only 'creativity' was in picking a domain name, which I can assure you, is not anywhere near a difficult nor a creative task. "because you thought up the domain name." is really little more than a laughable argument. It's the content on the site that counts, but you created none of that.

You were "swindled" because you are not educated or well read. Please, for your own edification, do some research and reading as to how the internet works.

BRAIN HOST is only a part!

AUTHOR: Isirrisi - (Puerto Rico)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 12, 2012

Thanks Michelle! I have already done so! I have made a complaint to the FTC. But I have come to the conclusion that this is a common practice among web hosting sites. They take peoples money and when people cancel, they don't refund a dime. That's only the half of it! They never tell you what they will actually do with that domain name. If it's any good, they will flip it! Flipping means "selling to whatever other hosting company will buy it. That is why after my research, I found that slew of companies, cash in on this:  HOSTMONSTER/ SINGLEHOP/HOSTMASTER/GODADDY just to name a few.

These companies announce unlimited storage and unlimited bandwidth to host unlimited domains on one account for $6.95 mo.  Can you believe it!  That is why there are more than 5000 domains under my domain name, which is my intellectual property! They make the money and the original owner doesn't know squat of what happens with his/her domain name.  Don't even think about reimbursement, because you thought up the domain name. This is such a swindle if ever I saw one! You too can check all this out, with a very useful tool I found to uncover the ownership trail of any domain. It's called Domain Tool. Very good and has free services and free trials!
