It is amazing that this company, Brake Team, still has an impact on many consumers in Las Vegas well after they closed all 11 locations in Las Vegas. The company claims they closed due to a "slumping economy." I believe it is because a local news company did an undercover investigation causing the Attorney General to file a class action lawsuit against the company.

I, like many others, heard the same sales pitch after taking my car in to Brake Team...."It looks like we're looking at new pads, rotars, drums, and an adjustment." My $99 special for a pad replacement was now well over $600. I was also told by the manager that Ford required my car to have ceramic brake pads only and this was the only type they made for my car uping the price even more. I was skeptical about everything that was going on becaue I had recently purchased my car from CarMax who certified the used car and it was still under an extended warranty. I told Brake Team to do the repair but to save the rotars as I was going to take them to CarMax and try and get reimbursed. Conveniently, "the guy had just come by and accidentally picked up my parts" and they were no longer there. This all occurred less than a year after I had previously taken my car there for an inspection and was told everything was fine with my car.

Fast forward to today. I took my car to the Ford dealership today and had them look at a knocking sound I began hearing on my car when I turned left and to do a brake inspection because my brakes always seemed squeaky. Turns out I need new front pads, front rotars, and they have to reassemble and service the rear brakes. I explained I had just had these all replaced and service less than two years ago by the Brake Team. I was told by Ford that they did not attach the rear brake spring on my rear brakes causing the need for repair on the rear brakes, and the front brake pads and rotars were "after market" pads and rotars. They were not "new" as I was told I was paying for previously from Brake Team. Likewise, I never received the $400 voucher in the class action settlement Brake Team had with our Attorney General in Nevada either. The company is still in business in other states, so BEWARE of this company. I am not sure of where I should go from here, but I can assure you I am starting with the Attorney General's office!
