I purchased a puppy from here,I was assured that he was not a puppy mill pup because he was AKC and he was examined by a vet and found to be free of defect.I was a dumb consumer and believed what they said. They told me after we fell in love with him, originally he was an outrageous $3300 and continued to reduce his price to $1000, when I tried to walk out of the store several times. They also charged a fee for transport and another fee which brought the price to $1230.I believed that  I was purchasing a good AKC, pure breed ,ShihTzu pup and left the store,we fell in love with this dog.I did some research and found the Kennel he came from to be known as a puppy mill and called them to report my findings .They just gave me more sweet talk and denied that he was a puppy from a mill since he was AKC.

I just took him to the vet for his rabies shot and an ear infection. My vet informed me he was a puppy mill pup based on the kennel he came from and found a congenital defect, a subluxating patella. She gave me a letter that our pup was unfit for sale, stating the reason and an estimate for possible repair of the defect, when it becomes necessary to perform. The store sent me a form to sign giving me a choice of returning him for exchange or refund or they will pay vet bills after the surgery.Well needless to say, we do not want to return this dog , we are not sure if or when he will need surgery and will this store will be in business at the time surgery may be needed.Personally we would like to receive 75% of his selling price since he was found to be unfit for sale and not the quality we were led to believe he was at the time of purchase. We will seek counsel for this matter and not drop it.LOVE OUR DOG !!!HATE THE STORE!!! WOULD NOT RECCOMEND TO ANYONE!!!

AKC Does Not Mean Quality

AUTHOR: BRODIE - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 20, 2011

After reading the rip off report from Kathy in Waretown, NJ, it is unfortunate that she was told that the dog was AKC and she believed that meant a quality puppy.

People need to know the facts.  It only means that your dog's mother and father are the same breed.  They do not conduct inspections at the breeding facility.

If you buy a dog from a pet store, unfortunately you will very often have problems.  Every reader should research this business.

How many more people have to be "ripped-off" before this changes?

I purchased a puppy from here. They told me that none of their dogs are AKC certified. The AKC doesnt ceritify their dogs and they give you their version of why this is. I am having major issues. I purchased a sick puppy from there that was cleared for sale I took it to my vet a day later and it was unfit for sale. They made me take the dog back to their vet told me it was the state law. Their vet downplayed the entire situation and stated their opinion. I took the dog to 5 other vets so far who all agree with my vet. I am having trouble obtaining medical records from their vet they wont surrender the records. Does anyone know why they make you pay $99 for a pet warranty that is the same as the NJ State Law that they dont adhere to in most cases anyway? If anyone has been to a lawyer about this please contact me. I have been to an attorney myself and am trying to decide how to proceed. I of course elected to keep the dog but have a feeling I may never see any money for medical bills

They ARE liars!

AUTHOR: Jenn - (United States of America)

I also bought my beloved dog from them last year. I'm surprised they only went down to $1000. I had a sales woman chase me out to my car! She then called me the next morning and sold me the dog for $550! I also traced my dog down to a puppy broker, then a puppy mill in Iowa. They are sneaky. They say they are not from puppy mills, but what they don't tell you is that they are from commercial kennels! If you do your research, you will see that it is just a legal term for a puppy mill. My dog (vet and groomer agree) dosen't even look like the breed they claim him to be! They told me he didn't come with papers because "they sold him to me for so cheap, that the breeder (yeah okay) dosen't want me to breed him". I was very lucky that he was healthy, altough he had giardia (which is common in puppies). I would recommend you check out the website NJCAPSA.org - they have a whole section about them - and I think you would really get some helpful information.

Also, have you spoken to the owner? If not, I would suggest to start there. When you call the store just be really nasty and explain to them that you demand the owner to call you immediately, or else you will be contacting a lawyer. His name is Lorin Kinslack (slimball). It worked for me and he called me back in an hour. He is also a sneak, but if you stand your ground and threaten a lawsuit on him for selling you a puppy from a puppymill, you may get somewhere! I wish you luck! Please conact me if you need anymore information! I'd be sooooo happy to help!
