I initially bought a 2005 tacoma in atlanta Ga. Four door six speed, It popped out of gear within the day i drove it off the lot. After some convincing that i didn't cause it, they replaced the transmission. Within a day popped out of gear again. Much convincing later it was replaced.
Within a couple months i moved to Utah. The tranny started catching third gear and i brought it back to toyota....Brent Brown Toyota. Must have took 3 weeks to convice them that i wasn's mis-shifting. I was told maybe i wasn't pushing the pedal to the floor, or maybe the floor mat was sliding underneath the pedal. i was even given floor mat clips to prevent this. After a couple more weeks they were able to duplicate it and could no longer deny their responsibility.
My best friend is a mechanic and i know my stuff to a degree. He knew and i knew what the problem was long before brent brown. Each visit back to Brent Brown was insulting. i was talked to as though i was 17 and had know idea what i was talking about.
Insulting service, demeaning and unprofessional.
Within about 8 months the tranny began catching third gear again. Exact same characteristics. I went back to Brent Brown and began trying to convince them of the same problem. I was told the exact same thing as before....maybe i wasn't shifting correctly or maybe the floor mat was sliding under the pedal. I was beside myself with frustration. Its a progressive problem and they claimed to be unable to duplicate it. I took it back several times and went so far as to leave it overnight twice since it was more easily duplicated in the cold morning. They claimed they did not duplicate it even though i did as soon as i drove off the lot. I waited till the "area rep" comes into town who apparently drove it once, said he coudn't reproduce it, and that was that. He was never told the history, just said no.
On one of my many many trips to brent brown, i saw the phone that went directly to brent brown himself.....i thought just maybe he be the one..., he listened for a min than sent his service messenger to chat with me. He said the "area rep" had the final say and thats that. No one seemed to care to communicate to the people making decisions. Including brent brown. Good intentions with the direct phone but proved pointless.
In the end the service dept just did not want to deal with it...i was told the most ludicrous reasons for the transmissions problems. Insulting treatment...insulting. Buy toyota......but nevvvvvvvver from brent brown. 4 transmissions and counting.
