I fell in love with a dress I saw on many websites for my wedding.  I'm a larger woman, so going into any bridal store was not an option.  I loved the Marilyn Gown, and had even tried it on from another website to make sure I loved it.  I then found the exact same dress on the Bridal Boulevard website and began email conversations to make sure I would be able to get it made to my size, and without the train (as I'm having a garden wedding).....They assured me all would come just as I wanted it, AND 100% guarantee it would be the same as in the picture on their website.  I was so very excited!!  I waited 4 weeks for my order, which wasn't bad considering it was being made to fit me.

I received the dress, and was horrified to see it was NOTHING like the dress I ordered. was a cheap immitation of the dress, but the beautiful rouching was replaced with strands of tightly sewn sequins.  Anyway, without going into great details of the differences in the 2 dresses (picture vs what I received), I immediately wrote to them.  It is now 5 weeks to my wedding and they want me to return it to them to alter it FREE OF CHARGE!!.....why would I pay for something that was NOT MY FAULT!!??.....I am attaching the last email I sent to them AGAIN trying to explain what I needed to happen (as now I'm going to be without a dress for my wedding!!), and also have attached their reply!

THEY JUST DON'T GET IT!!...or are helpfull at all!!  I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND this company, and wish I had looked deeper to see other complaints before ordering. 

Here is the email I sent them as a last shot...


 Hi Linda.....

I am very confused with your offer!  You are asking for my dress back to alter it, and seem to think that offering alterations TOTALLY FREE is some sort of favor to me for me being unhappy.  The TRUTH of the matter is you DID NOT SEND THE CORRECT DRESS!!   IT IS not even close to  the same dress!!  

You 100% GUARANTEED that the dress I will receive will be EXACTLY the dress shown on the picture. IT IS NOT.  I have said this a number of times now, and you still do not understand this! The dress took 4 weeks to reach me.  I have now waited 6 days (almost 1 full week) to hear what you are prepared to do TO MAKE THIS THE RIGHT DRESS!  And all you have to offer is for me to send the dress back??...Why would I TRUST that any alterations OR even a new dress would be close to the picture in the website?  You did not prove this to me the FIRST TIME you sent me the dress!!??...  

If I send the dress BACK to you, I risk the chance of having NO DRESS for the biggest day of my life!!!

If you were concerned with customer service, you response from my letter showing the pictures of the 2 different dresses, might be something like:               

We are so sorry to have sent you a poor imitation of the Marilyn Gown.  The dress looking like the one from the picture is being made as we speak.  When you have received the correct gown, please use the packaging to return the wrong item.

With the time remaining until July 31/10, I do not believe you can provide me with the Marilyn Gown as seen on your website.  

I do not want to have my wedding day with no dress, therefore I have found a local company to make the dress resemble your webpage picture.  At the moment they have quoted me $200 and delivery in 16 days.  

I really wish you would have lived up to your promise to send me the Marilyn Gown from your website.  Your website promises 100% Guarantee that the dress I will receive is the dress in the picture.  You have not offered an acceptable solution to me.

This is your responsibility to make it right. I request to be refunded the $200 I must spend, for the gown to be made like the one I ordered.

I just don't know what to do now!!....I am going to get it altered and fixed.  Can send pictures to show the real difference of the dresses if needed....

I am so sorry to hear that this happened to you. It's a cautionary tale about website orders vs. reality of what arrives and the fulfillment process. You can always avoid such situations by dealing with a local, neighborhood vendor rather than something overseas.
