Brookstone Store Non-disclosure of non-returnable items West Des Moines Iowa

I received two products from Brookstone for Christmas, a pair of slippers and a personal trimmer. These are not items I needed so I decided to "try" to return them.

The Brookstone store manager, Jon, has outright refused to accept my return, even with a receipt.

The slippers were in a box that was written on so he claims the are not in the original packaging. Even with the top of the box missing (where the writing was located) he refused...with a receipt. These slippers have never touched the ground.

The trimmer was refused because it is a "personal care product". This box hasn't even been opened, let alone used. He claims their policy is to not accept personal care product returns as a health issue. Was the box sealed for my protection to ensure it was "safe", no!

If such rules are in place at Brookstone, why are they not posted anywhere in the store to ensure the consumer sees them BEFORE purchasing products. The return policy is written on the back of the receipt, but you only get the receipt after purchasing. Return policies need to be better disclosed especially at Christmas time when these products are purchase in good faith thinking the recipient can return if it isn't the right product.

If personal care products may not be returned, should that not be fully disclosed before purchase. Have you seen their stores? They are about 50% personal products....and all of these can't be returned...????

A formal complaint has been filed with the Brookstone District Manager. After reading what I can find on the Internet, I don't expect much assistance or satisfaction.

Please assist in a boycott of a ripoff store like Brookstone that refuses customer returns. Brookstone is just another example of poor customer service, trying to screw the little guy out of a few bucks with their usually over-priced merchandise. Nice to know they have so many extra customers that they can afford to discard those of us that have purchased from them in the past. But never again. I am through with them and you should be too. Buyer Beware-you netter like what you order or good luck getting the inept drones at Brookstone to refund your money.
