Murray Chousky Renovation World Dishonest Contractor fails to repair defective patio/walkway under warranty Thornhill Ontario

In June of 2002 Murray Chousky, Renovation World installed a patio/walkway leading from the driveway to the main entrance of my house. In the spring of 2003 I noticed that there was significant cracking between the stones, and the concrete base itself was crumbling. Since there was a 1 year warranty on the contract, I called to have the situation repaired.

I contacted Murray Chousky in the first week of May time frame, and was told he would come by and meet with me to assess the problem and work out a solution. I had to call repeatedly, but was always put off.

After repeated calls and missed appointments, I then sent a registered letter on July 8th reiterating our written expectations.

Since the spring and through to Oct the front patio/walkway was a disorganized and dangerous hazard area, the gardens were damaged, and the lawn was partially covered by the stone and ruble left in piles. Only after I sent a further registered letter on August 28th did Murray return, again making promises to have the rubble removed, the concrete removed and to replace the patio/walkway as he promised.

Although a two man crew did show up to remove the stacks of ruble, no one came back to complete the removal of the stones. The following week the concrete restoration company never arrived as promised by Murray. When I called I was told that I would be called back. Since then no one has called or shown up to complete the promised repairs.

As a result of the dishonest treatment by Murray Chousky, my family and I have been denied the use of the primary front walkway and patio, for the duration of the summer and fall. The value of my property has been diminished. I now have to contract at additional expense to have the defective work removed, and a new patio/walkway installed properly. I am also filing in smalls claims court for $10,000.00 against Murray Chousky.
