Burger King Corp. Continues to falsely advertise, using the words (Have it your way). They will not cut the whopper in half. They offer you a knife to do it. On my first compliant to corprate headquarters. I was told an employee injury caused them to stop cutting it. I explained to them it doesn't met thier advertising slogan. I suggested inventing a machine to cut it safely. What I found interesting was in the Broward County, Florida area they would do it as requested. Two (2) years later, I reported them to the BBB,(Better Business Bureaus) because of the continued use of the slogan in advertiing. Thier response was that the slogan meant the numourus condiments you can have put on your Burger King foods. My response then, was (Have it your way) means "Have it your way", in plain english. Not the meaning they were giving those words.

Still after approx. three (3) years after my reporting them to the B.B.B. they continue to use the slogan in thier advertising. I had always eaten my whooper extra mayoniase cut in half almost all my life till this change in thier practice. I have stopped eating thier because of thier response and lack of action. They should stop using the slogan if thier not going to let the customer have it thier way.

I feel the same way buddy this is false advertizing. I wanted to order a kids meal, replace the soft drink with vodka, and replace the double cheeseburger with extra patties for my own BBQ. To my shock they refused. Seriously thought the "Have it your way slogon, only replies to the type of toppings you want on your burger. If you want extra pay extra. I personally would have cut the burger for you, it does not take that long, but seriously you are an adult cut your own burger.

A 16 year old can't cut something with a plastic knife?

They won't serve me a burger at 8:30 am either at some locations while others will. I am going to contact the BBB. This isn't just about cutting a sandwich, it is about false advertising and how far we are willing to let them go without holding them accountable for their lies.

Even if I do eat at a fast food joint, I would still prefer to cut it myself, less opportunity for a disgruntled teenager to do something unspeakable to it.

I like to drive my own car and answer my own phone also....wierd, huh?

wow, nitpicker.

If you want your food sliced, go eat some pizza;though, at least he doesn't call 911 saying "I'm at BK, and these a**holes won't cut my burger in half, get here NOW!" I mean, come on people, he isn't that bad

Larry:

You are a grown man, and you've been complaining for 3 years that a fast food joint refused to cut up your food for you as though you were a 2-year-old? Really? If I had it my way, everything would be free. Should I alert the BBB? This is just SAD. Whoppers with extra mayonnaise cause heart attacks and obesity, anyway. Go get upset about a real problem. Jeez.

#7 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Not BKC Issue, Insurance Liability and Federal Child Labor law issue.

I was previously a GM at a Burger King Restaurant, and while I sympathize with your request, I'm responding to clarify maybe a little better as to why it had to be put in place.

I'm sure you know that a majority of the fast food workforce, especially nights and weekends are comprised of minors, kids that are out of school. The two reasons the policy was put into place 5 years ago when I was GM was that there were prohibitions at the federal, state and local level that varied in the degree that a minor could perform certain tasks. Minor's are not permitted to operate even a tomato slicer, they are not even allowed to wash it among other things as well as the use of the knife that is standard equipment. It's not like a kitchen knife that will take some force to cut thru a sandwich and break the skin, when the knifes are new they can cut thru a hand down to the bone, I've seen it done.

With the rising cost of workers compensation insurance and the liability of such accidents, not to mention the federal, state and local municipalities that are becoming ever stricter on what a Minor can and cannot do, the 'system' had to incorporate a far reaching policy across a national brand to address all those concerns.

Unfortunately, needing minors to fully staff a fast food restaurant are an unavoidable fact of doing business and keeping it financially stable, and as such we have to adapt policies that allow the stores to be as consistent as possible from one to the next. Unfortunately there were nights where every other employee in the store was a minor, do you then want to inconvenience every other customer in the restaurant cause you cant cut your own sandwich in half that the one adult who's trying to run the operation and keep your food moving has to stop the wheel to wash up, glove up, cut your sandwich, wash up again, then back to pushing that one sandwich out?

Please do yourself and everyone else waiting a favor and take 15 seconds of your time to cut your own $2 burger in half and consider the legal and logistical reasons why they could no longer honor that request.

I have a 4 yr. old nephew who will absolutely refuse to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, unless is is cut in half diagonally. You two have a lot in common. Hopefully, he will grow out of such childish behavior before he learns to access the Internet.

According to you this has been 3 years...GET OVER IT.

If your biggest issue in life is that they won't cut your Whopper in half then consider yourself very lucky. There are millions of people in this world who would be love to have this as a worry rather than trying to just figure out how to survive.

There is no RipOff here.

You cant be serious

AUTHOR: Raven - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, November 21, 2008

You cant possibly be serious? Just wondering why it is so hard for you to cut your own burger in half? Judging by the numerous misspellings and gramarical errors in your complaint I am guessing this muct be too hard of a task for you. I think everyone knows what they mean by "have it your way" except for you.

AUTHOR: Striderq - (U.S.A.)

Who cuts your burger in half at the other fast food stores? Please get real. This is not a ripoff, just you wanting to be catered to in ways that are not feasible. Cut your own...sandwich in half.
