Butch Bokman - Lockport, NY Bitten by "kid-safe" horse sold to me by BUTCH BOKMAN - BEWARE!! Lockport, New York

I was looking for a kid-safe, novice horse to add to our small herd.  I saw and ad online, contacted Butch Bokman and went to see her.  It was not what I was looking for, so I decided on another horse from his 12 or so stock of horses.  I was told Butch's grandchildren rode this horse several times, alone and with a lead. She rode well. The price was $1,200 or B/O. I told him I would pay the full price for free delivery. Agreed.

  She was delivered, and I wanted Butch to sign a contract saying that if the horse didn't work out or it had health problems after being vet checked, I could return her for a full refund.  He gave me a very difficult time about the contract, saying , "You're trouble, aren't you?"  He finally signed after me telling him, if he didn't the horse can go right back with him.

After being vet checked, she was full of worms. We treated her. After riding her myself several times, I had a 12-year old girl getting on her while I was holding the horse.  As she was being mounted, BOOM, she bit me in the thigh...HARD!.  Long story short, I contacted Butch and he said it was something I did wrong.  Yeah standing next to a horse is wrong.  He accused me of not knowing what I was doing, being stupid around horses, etc. I had to visit the ER 2x, go to a specialist, have the would lanced 2x, and for a month, rinse and pack the wound for several weeks afterwards.

I called Butch from the ER and told him we were returning the horse.  He was going to charge me over $600 for picking her up, which included the price of $3.50 per mile to deliver her in the first place.  What??? It was free delivery!! And it was on the receipt.  Well, his time is worth money, you know. Plus, he was only going to give me $900 of my money back. Told him I was going to contact a lawyer, then he really blew up.  "You're not going to win! You'll pay for a lawyer and not get anything in return.  You're nothing but trouble.." Just to get rid of the guy, we agreed to get back $1000 and my husband borrowed a trailer and took her back.  Butch took my husband into the office, gave him a check that was upside down so my husband looked at it.  It was only $950.  Hubby mentioned the difference and Butch said it was right.  He was shown the text with the agreed amount, so Butch peeled a $50 bill from a huge wad of $ and gave it to him. 

Meanwhile, I have a huge permantent scar on my thigh.  Thanks Butch.
