*BEWARE*

Below is an advertisement on Craigslist that I responded to. This is yet another one of those companies that wants you to work for them for free for 3 or 4 weeks and then cycle you like they do everyone else. Please read other complaints about buzzazz.com on this site and you can read first hand from employees that have been scammed by this company.

They put this ad out below and then a sales manager tells you they will train you this week and then you go out and visit with 40 different company owners (self generated) the following week about the companies services. Once this happens you can have some "no pressure sales" appointments from Corporate. LOL. What a joke! Here is the best part (not for you of course, this company Buzzazz). They put a TWO WEEK LAG ON YOUR CHECK! That means after a week of training, a week of selling and then it will be 2 weeks until you get paid. One full month until see a penny and this include the "guarantee"!

Total scam people. You have been warned. Also, if you think I am full of crap then go do some due diligence on the officers of this company, previous company names used, and other complaints from independent sales people and employees.

Thank you for your interest in the Director of Sales post for Buzzazz Web Design. Please review the materials below and then determine if this is something you want to pursue.

Industry: Weve found nearly of the small businesses in the United States still do not have websites and those that do, often want a redesign or help with marketing. Business owners across the planet know they should have a website if they dont yet have one which makes for some great dialogue for a sales representative. Additionally, there are thousands of businesses that start-up every month.

Product: Buzzazz markets custom website designs and other related services to businesses. For a custom site, called Premier on our corporate website, we charge $400/page. For example a 5 page Premier site costs $2,000, a 3 page site costs $1200, etc. Buzzazz also offers a starter website called the SuperSaver, which is a 3 page site and costs only $395. The average income per sale for 2007 is $1250.

Company history: The owners of Buzzazz started a telephone company in 1992. It grew by the owners taking a hands on approach and being the first sales representatives by knocking on business doors in downtown Chicago. Last summer, over 20,000 new customers were signed up and the business was sold on December 1, 2006.

Buzzazz began in 1999 as a pilot business out of the Telephone company. Telephone rates continued to come down, cell phones became a force and the owners wanted to be in an industry they thought would be around for the next 50 years websites! Even with the company focus on the telephone company, Buzzazz has generated, designed sites for and services monthly over 1,000 business customers.

Over the past 6 months, one of the owner again entered the sales field and personally sold new customers Buzzazz services. When in the field, the owner never had a week that he didnt sell at least one new customers, only one week he had one sale and every other week produced between 2-7 new clients.

Company Goal: Buzzazz intends to be the worlds market leader in website design and services by providing a professional and personal touch to excellent products and services.

Schedule: Monday Friday 8:30 to 5:30 or until the job is done.

Duties: Your job is to introduce Buzzazz to your city and state. Each morning, youll introduce our company to 40 new businesses and find out if they have a need for a new website or a redesign. The remainder of the day, youll run 2-3 preset appointments by the companys telemarketing staff, do presentations on those businesses youve found have website needs, and do follow-up calls on those businesses that needed a little time to think about our offer.

Compensation: Base of $12.50/hour ($500/week or $25,000/ year) base plus 20% commissions on sales. Once a Director of Sales has produced 100 accounts, they begin receiving $5/month on customers they have generated.

Annual Income expectations: Directors of Sales are expected to make 20+ presentations per week, close 20% of their presentations which would be 4+ sales per week and gross sales of $5,000. A Director of Sales should earn $75,000 in their first year and $100,000-$125,000 in year 2 (after residuals are built up). $25,000 from base, $25,000 from residuals, and $50,000-$75,000 from personal sales commissions.

Hourly Pay Calculations: Director of Sales hours will vary from week to week, but they are expected to work an average of 40+ hours and produce 3-5 new customers each week. With a nationwide sale staff, its not possible to track each individuals hours; therefore, the base will be paid every week that at least one or more websites are sold, even if its just a SuperSaver. If there is ever a week with no production, it will be assumed the Director of Sales was in training, took a vacation week, or took other time off. Buzzazz will pay out a maximum of 100% of the collected revenues by a Director of Sales in any one week. For example, if you only produce $400 in revenues in one week, you would be paid $400.

Qualifications: A willingness to do whatever it takes to be successful on the job and good communication skills. Previous sales experience is preferred, but not mandatory.

Future: A willingness to do whatever it takes to be successful on the job and good communication skills. Previous sales experience is preferred, but not mandatory.

Next Step: If you are interested after reviewing this information sheet, check out the Buzzazz.com website. Determine if this is a game you want to play, commit to, and apply for. If it is, please send an email with your name and phone number to amy@buzzazz.com. On the subject line of the email, please enter Interview and the city & state you want to apply for.

One Should Have The Whole Story and the Real Facts

AUTHOR: Mark Krajewski - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, November 09, 2007

I'll try my best to answer each of this person's allegations.

I'm quite sure that this person did not do a speck of work for our company unless "Michael" from Austin Texas is a complete alias. I could be wrong but we've only had one person work the Austin area for us and it was a female who would have had much more substantial infomation to share since she actually did make a terrific attempt to successfully sell our product for us. Although she did not make a single sale for us and did not make any money for herself (or the company I might add), I think she gave a fair amount of effort and decided not to continue after a week.

This is not an uncommon story for us. We're looking for sales professionals who have the uncommon fortitude to get out there and hustle and work very hard to create a successful venture for themselves. IT IS HARD WORK and unfortunately for us, this type of person is all too rare, otherwise our success as a company would have come much more quickly.

I can say this with all certainty as I have, myself, successfully done the job that we're asking these people to do. And I'm not alone as both of the owners of Buzzazz have successfully done it as well.

As for the two week lag on pay. I believe if you surveyed a fair number of companies, you'd not find this to be an uncommon practice. I've personally worked for three companies prior to Buzzazz who have used this policy for compensation. The reason is quite simple. Perhaps I should preface this by saying that we're talking about sales here and the company needs to first receive payment from customers in order to pay out commissions and payroll. The key is the amount of time it takes Buzzazz to get confirmation on money.

I got a $3,800 paid in full deal last week. We processed the credit card on Friday and as of Tuesday night, the cash was still not in our account. Many of our orders are sold on Fridays and we are processing money on Mondays and we usually find out that the credit card payments hit our bank on Thursday, Friday, and on rare occasions, after. Since payroll is due to go out on the same Friday, it's just not enough administrative time. Ergo, two week lag.

It's not as "Michael" makes it out to be - one month until someone gets paid. We work extremely hard to help our reps get a sale in their first week. It doesn't always happen but if they put in the effort required, they almost always get at least one in their second week. It is true that if a sales rep in our organization does not make sales, they don't get paid. That's what sales is all about. One gets paid directly for what they produce. That's why as a profession, sales people are members of the highest paid profession in the world. FACT.

"Michael" mentions a "guarantee." I can't figure out what he's talking about as I've closely reviewed the ad and I don't see the use of the word guarantee anywhere. We're very careful to be clear about our compensation and dedicate quite a bit of explanation to it. We try hard to provide a new rep the opportunity to quickly create a stable income.

It's not an easy thing to do and we've even gone to the point of paying out 100% of revenue collected on some sales leaving no profit for the company. We've done this in the past to help reps get started with us. We don't do it any longer as it hurt us financially but I mention it only to make the point that we strive to create a situation where our reps can win as well as the company.

It's not clear to me where the quote "no pressure sales" comes from or what point he's trying to make by stating it. We do provide our reps with one or two appointments set by the company per day but we train the reps to create as many appointments as they can themselves as the success ratio of the appointments set by reps is statistically better than the appointments set by our telemarketers. Again, we use our own appointment setters as an effort to help our reps along. It's an additional expense to us but we work hard to make it pay off.

"Michael" seems to try to intimate that we somehow profit by having a rep work for us for 3 or 4 weeks without producing a sale. I can't figure out how that is. It's very simple. When our reps make sales, we produce a terrific product and we both make money. If they don't make a sale, there's no money. When we "cycle" reps it does us no good at all. We've invested our valuable time (money) - in training primarily. But this is a calculated venture. We know, by experience, that we will likely have to hire and train 5 to 6 people in order to get one who succeeds but we certainly wish we could make each one successful. If we could, we'd be a huge success and would have every other sales organization in the world beating on our doors and paying us lots of money to know what our training model is. We're not quite there yet.

Michael, I'd be happy to speak with you if you'd like to contact me to express your personal dissatisfaction with Buzzazz but to draw conclusions not based upon your own experience of actually working with Buzzazz and seemingly tagging us as "one of those companies" based upon some experience you might have had with some other organization and then biasing others doesn't seem quite fair.
