I am a Independent Contractor and do various merchandising for many companies. I was called by Peggy Schafer of C and P Merchandising, Inc. late on 8/5 to do a store reset in Crescent Beach, FL 90 miles away. I first told her no, but she told me I would be paid .28 a mile after the first 30 miles and $12.00 an hour. I got a money order for $27.00 about 2 months later only after contacting her several times only to be told the "Check was in the mail" The $27.00 was for my hourly work and not the mileage. Before knowing that they did not pay, I accepted another job the following Monday, she called me again that following Sunday night to do another emergency job the next morning. This job was the same pay, $12.00 plus mileage.

I worked 7 1/2 hours. This job I have never been paid for. After numerous emails, they finally told me another "Check was in the mail this past Wednesday, NO Check came. I got an email tonight stating that a check was mailed today, Saturday 11/6. I was told it was for $46.00, which is the mileage for the first job but does not include the second job. I have had it with the non-paying merchandising companies and I have since changed careers and I am working for a well paying company.

C and P Merchandising UPDATE

AUTHOR: Margaret - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, November 12, 2004

I received a money order today for $46.00. This is my mileage for 1 job I did for them. They stated this was mailed last Saturday 11/6 but was post marked 11/10, which means they did not mail it until Wednesday, not Saturday. They addressed it to Atlantic, GA and I live in Atlantic Beach, FL about 5 hours from them. Still waiting on my payment for 7 1/2 at 12.00 an hour plus my mileage. I just got a check in the mail last week on 11/6 for my work for my new company for my work through 10/31. It so great work for a company that pays so promptly. I have changed careers since the merchandising industry has so many fly-by-night so-called companies or rip-off artists. This is hard physical labor for very little money, if you ever get paid. I now make $65.00 for 10-20 minutes work, its a goldmine and I could work 7 days a week if I wanted to. I just put a check in the bank last week for $5,945.00. Maybe this company did me a favor by making me look for other ways to make money.
