On Tuesday I made an appointment to meet with Mr. Powell for a security job on Wednesday.  I was told to bring a state ID, SS card and proof of address. In the office with him sat a relative througout the interview.  He told me of a job paying $ 11.00 per hour for 50 hour week, working from 7am to 5pm.  I agreed, was told  that I had to pay $ 80.00 for background check and processing.  This I also paid.  Then he told me about the need to take the Fireguard class and be certified for a total of $ 249.00. The balance had to be paid on the day of the class.  After this class I was to start working next Wednesday. Of course the money is non-refundable.

When I tried to read the paper with the fees he told me just put them away before I left, introduced to the teacher (a police officer), escorted me to door and told me to be on time on Saturday.

When I got home I decided read the paper which states that the deposit is non-refundable, this was never stated before. Tried to call but the telephone number does not work. The "Class Training Schedule 2010" which is given to you on your way out then states *** NOTE PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE DATE WILL BE DETERMINED UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION....** ,then I went to Google the company.  I read the many Ripoff stories as well as the "7 On Your Side:Security guard job problems|70nline.com".

At a time when so many people are really trying to survive I think that it is a disgrace that this and possible others are feeding off so many struggling people.  They should really think hard about their ripoff scheme as they do not know what people have to go through just to do these classes.

I have decided to contact Senator Chuck  Schumer and ask him to look into these many business's claiming to have security work and then telling you to pay for additional classes.  In realitry all they do is sent you somewhere to put in an application as they do not have any sepecific job you.l
