I signed up to have cage fitness at our martial arts school in March 2012.  We were apprehensive with this program so Steve Holliday at cage fitness said we could "pencil" in our program for 12 months @ $199 instead of the 24 months  at $199 "they" require you to do up front.  We spent $1000 on cage bags, received one folder with two dvd's with drills for the classes,  paid for two months to use "cage fitness"  Weren't getting any new clients for this program.  We weren't getting any help from cage fitness or their pro's after they got my credit card information.  So I stopped payment after two months.

They promised new drills every month, our school name on their website. None of this we received.  Now they sent me to collections for twice the amount, for the 24 months total not the original 12 months. For a total of $5,416!!!

I have been in the martial arts business for 19 years. But yet, since the program never worked at our martial arts school cage fitness "says" that they are here for us, just a phone call away.  What happened to the support and the drills and the advertising they promised?   When I stopped payment they sent me to collections for twice the amount??  Each time I contact one of the people, Steve Holliday of Cage Fitness, Joe Galea of Member Solutions (their billing company) they tell me that they have sold the contract and can not do anything about it.  During my 19 years teaching martial arts neither I nor my affiliates have sent someone to collection that were dissatisfied with our program..

Cage Fit/Member Solutions making it right

AUTHOR: Frankie McConnell - ()

POSTED: Thursday, April 04, 2013

Last week I shared a recording of a call (one of many) I received from a collection company (Credit Counsel Inc)
regarding my Cage Fitness account. I am confident that no students would ever
be treated this way after speaking with Joe Galea from Member Solutions. He has
been very helpful in resolving the incident and both Cage Fitness and Member
Solutions had expressed disappointment that we were subjected to this form of
harassment. Even though we still have a difference in opinion regarding my
contract with Cage Fitness, they are working together to remove the contract
from collections, even at their expense, because of the incident. Thanks for
the opportunity to vent our concerns here and I am glad things worked out and
thank both Cage Fitness and Member Solutions for their efforts.

Cage fitness treats clients BAD

AUTHOR: Frankie McConnell - ()

POSTED: Friday, March 29, 2013

Learn from my mistake.  Don't buy into cage fitness.  It's a scam.  Like the guy said himself, it's not his fault if we don't sign anyone up..They're only interested in themselves..  Check out this phone call that I got yesterday from their collections guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxD1yp0SuMw  So, if you're a school owner and this is how they treat YOUR clients.  I'd say they'll never come back.

did someone mention integrity??

Like I said before, from the start we weren't sure about the program from the beginning.  After a few weeks of only receiving a couple of dvd's with drills and a few fliers we knew it was a mistake to ever have done cage fitness.  You can buy the home kit from century for less than $80. and they've made it so you can offer this program in your facility but you don't need to pay for the name.  There AREN'T any new drills, that's what they promised.  But they want to take advantage of martial arts schools and charge them just to use the name "cage fitness".  Steve Holliday said in his first rebuttal that "He crossed out the term and wrote in his own on his own accord.  I never gave permission for him to write in what ever he wanted in that field. "  as you can see in the emails I have posted that that was clearly the case, he advised us to do so.. .  He obviously was only interested in getting my credit card information and future payments.  Once again I realize it was a mistake to sign up with cage fitness.  I just got off the phone with the collection company AGAIN with more threats against me and my business for breach of contract.  With this guy Frank Waters calling and insulting me personally.  (I'm glad I was able to record that conversation!)    This collection company cage fitness and member solutions use "credit counsel" is ALSO on the ripoff report..You can check it out!!!!  I'm happy for ripoff report that WE as consumers can let the public know about companies  like CAGE FITNESS, MEMBER SOLUTIONS and CREDIT COUNSEL  who like to take advantage of small and "mom and pop" businesses, and to publicly acknowledge MY mistake for trusting cage fitness over the phone and email whose employees only care about their NUMBERS and not if their clients are satisfied.. I'm also looking forward to the Facebook and Twitter blogs as well.  ;)

Mrs. McConnell,

Just read through all of the emails again. Feel free to post them. The only accurate piece of information was that I said you could pencil in the date and initial as it had been some time since I sent over the paperwork. I never authorized you to change the term. What I did state was I would place in a 12 month cancellation clause. I did that and you still changed the term. The agreement would carry on as normal, the only difference was you would be able to cancel with thirty days written notice. I was up front with everything and answered any questions you had as well. I was out of the office in June for the birth of my son. You stopped paying in April. I can only handle what I know about. Your personal attacks are not warranted as I have done nothing wrong. As I stated, you stopped paying in April 2012. If you did call in June while I was out, why did you wait so long to call? Like I said before. We are a phone call or email away. I heard nothing from you until your account went to collections. I entered the only contact information I had for you all. I had no idea it was your daughters phone. I don't control what the collection company says. I did offer to help you all out when Mr. McConnell called. I didn't ignore the call. I offered to help get you out of collections and bring you all current. Once Mr. McConnell stated the term and amount was wrong, I checked the paperwork and noticed the penciled in term. When discussing with the billing company, I asked them to contact the collection agency and have the amount owed changed to reflect the 12 months and not 24. The agreement clearly states you can cancel with 30 days written notice after the initial 12 months so long as your account was current. Refer to page 2 number 3 of the agreement. I never received written notice from you at all. Not by mail or email. It isn't my fault you could not get any members. If there are facilities running cage fitness and not paying, that is wrong as well As I stated before, I can't help when I don't know you need assistance. You all had everything all of our other 200 plus licensees have. I took you down from our locator and deleted your log in credentials for the website after many months of non payment. If you would like to discuss this further feel free to email or call the office. I will be in on Friday.

An Honest Woman

AUTHOR: Mandy McConnell - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, March 27, 2013

I did call for your help numerous times and I was asked, who signed you? Steve Holliday I replied. And I was told he will call you back. Left several messages and got lots of delays. He just left can I take a message, he just had a baby he'll get back to you. I would try to talk to someone else but they were not helpful at all. Well when you are running a small business in the worst economy in the past 50 years you aren't going to wait 12 months. So when we never heard from Steve Holliday and never enrolled ONE Cage student. Let me be clear NOT ONE STUDENT! We paid TWO months and waited to hear from them.

The sad part is we needed this to work. When they turned us over to collections we were distraught and still very much are and my husband contacted Mr. Holliday right away but there is no working it out. We don't feel like we owe for a program we could never get to work in our school. How can you justify owing someone thousands of dollars for a sticker in the window?

I have about 10 emails and 2 of them state exactly what Mr. Holliday said he didn't do which I will attach. He said he would write in a 12 month cancellation and then told me to do it over the phone and initial it. And in another email it says to scratch out the date and change it and initial it. You will see them soon.

Further this collection agency is not only calling my house, and the studio, it is calling my daughters cell phone (she is 9 years old) which she has for emergency and they told her she needs to tell her mother to be an honest woman. That broke my heart.

People everywhere are teaching Cage Fitness without a license yet we are in collections for an amount we never agreed to. Interesting that Mr. Holliday brought up his integrity.

Mandy McConnell

In Response to Frankie McConnell's Report

AUTHOR: SteveH - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, March 27, 2013

This is to clarify the FALSE information reported by Frankie McConnell.  I am writing this personally as I don't like people making false reports, especially questioning my integrity! Mr. McConnell did purchase the Cage Fitness license for his facility.  He crossed out the term and wrote in his own on his own accord.  I never gave permission for him to write in what ever he wanted in that field.  If that term was agreed on, I would have simply retyped it and sent the revised version to him to sign.  I did not notice he had done this until he finally contacted us once his account was in collections.  Once he had stopped paying, we and our billing company tried numerous times to reach Mr. McConnell with no answer or response either by phone or email.  Mr. McConnell received the same thing all of our other licensees do when they sign up.  The start up kit with 4 discs and corresponding material to walk him through the program, log in credentials for our website to access the updated material we post every four months (now moving to a monthly update), a listing on the locator on our website and access to our equipment supplier.

He and his wife were told that we are here to help.  We explain that to all of our licensees.  We let them know we are always a phone call or email away if they need assistance.  We never received a phone call or email from Mr. McConnell requesting assistance.  It wasn't until his account was in collections that he decided to contact us.  Once he did call, I offered to help him out.  I offered a payment plan to get him out of collections and to bring his account current.  He stated that we didn't have a signed agreement, which we do (with his signature) and I faxed it to him for his records.  He declined my assistance and said that the term and the balance he owed was not correct.  That is when I noticed he had altered the term on the agreement.  So, I had our billing company contact the collection agency and adjust the amount he owed to reflect the term he wrote in. (We wanted to make certain that he was only charged what was on the agreement even if it was done without permission.)  Still nothing from Mr. McConnell at this time.  Just false accusations.

We and especially myself pride ourselves on providing great customer service.  We do our best to help people when they need assistance, but CAN'T do anything if we don't know they need it and can't do it for them!  Please feel free to contact us at the Cage Fitness headquarters and we will be happy to help explain further without divulging personal information.  You can find our contact info at www.cagefitness.com I wanted to clarify what the facts truly were and let people know that we operate an honest upfront business.  Everything is always upfront and in writing.  We explain everything in the beginning so there are NO SURPRISES.
