Cal Worthington Ford and one of their p***k general sales managers named Chris ruined a good deal ...

First off ill say i dont have excellent credit. i have been on the road to recovery for about 3 years from my dumb mistakes. after being insulted by nye ford in wasilla who tacked on so much hidden costs my own bank denied the loan not becuase i didnt qualify but becuase the loan amount exceeded the loan value of the truck. what another bunch of jerks.

I make just under $70,000 a year take home which is surely enough to get a new truck. after the bad taste from nye wore off and my 93 ford getting due for some major work i said hey i work hard, make fair money, i want a newer truck to have something to show for being a hard worker.

When i went cal worthington ford i had no intentions of driving off with a new truck. i was greated by a friendly young sales man who listened to what i wanted. early in our conversation he said pick out something you like and well run you through finance. i told him could i just run my credit so i knew what i qualified for rather than getting my hopes up and being denied. after that he asked chris the sales mgr if we could do that and he said sure.

I filled out the form. earlier at nye ford ford motor credit had ok'd me for a new f-150 xlt lariat with all the bells and whistles. chris said after a short wait john we can get you in a new truck full knowing that i would settle for a used or later year truck. he did say that i would have to get out of the loan i was in but with a 2750.00 rebate and the 2000.00 cash in my pocket that wouldnt be a problem. he said he had 8 2001 brand new trucks and could work the price more if i chose one of those. sure i thought still new they hadnt changed anything from 01-02 models except different graphics. still bumper to bumper warranty i had no problem with that.

They gave me a appraisal for my 93 at over 4000 dollars wow i thought things were looking pretty good.he directed his salesman to show me the 01 trucks out front and pointed to them. never saying a word that i was limited to which one i could purchase. s**t they told me i could buy a new 02. after looking over the selection of 01's i made a decision. an 01 darkblue f-150 xlt lariat with most of the bells and whistes. seeing as the sticker on the lesser ones minus the plain jane xlt a plain f-150 and a lether interior ect ect ect was only $ 2000 more i thought as a consumer and the one driving not to mention paying the payments! that i had chose well. so the salesman and myself returned to his cubicle where we finalized a deal. i intended to work them a little on the price for the 650 demo miles but nothing in great monetary numbers.

So lets get the facts nice and simple. i knew i had some blemmishes on my credit,i went in and specifically knowing that i was a little at there mercy as far as financing, i made it clear i wanted a different truck not neccasarily new but what ever i qualified for that point i made undyingly clear. they tell me i qualify for a new one but could work a better deal cuase of my high mileage trade in i agreeed. the general sales manager points out specific trucks for me to choose from. he doesnt say stay away from the spendy ones or john try settleing on something plain and cheap he says go pick out one of those trucks. and i did. and heres what really chaffs me. im sitting there with the sales man only a signiture and some figures to finalize. he picks up the contract and looks me in the eye and says geez did you have to have something so nice! i was stunned.

Speachless, i did not get angry or rude or make a scene he in this frozen moment im in says to the sales man go get the vin on one of those xlt's not even bothering to make any comment to me. i guess he said it all when he said"DID YOU HAVE TO HAVE SOMETHING SO NICE!". at that moment i got up. and said im leaving. wait wait said chris no i said im leaving. then this little self inflated p***k looks me in the eye and says fine leave. like he had bent over backward for me and i had shafted him on a favor. i have to say that from what i seen the salesman was shocked. and he didnt say a thing. if he reads this i want him to know i thought he did a good job he listened. let me tell all of you something exspecially FORD im 41 soon to be 42 may 26th.

I have owned nothing my entire life except fords. heres a list 1969 ford boss mustang black off the showroom floor thanks to my mom. a 1970 ford mustang blown motor replaced with a bigblock i won a lot of drag races with that car, and kept my new one like new. well i wrapped that car around a telephone pole in my drunken youth and before college was to start so i bought a 82 mustang to commute and a old ford apache form my brother to d**k around in hunting ect. well that 82 ran and ran and ran minus minor repairs i was very pleased. i sold it for real cheap to a young man who worked hard for me over the summer.

I picked up a 67 mustangwith a straight 6 in it and it made it all the way to alaska before i sold it and bought the 93 from cal worthington. it has 180,000 miles and needs some things addressed but not by me.and i wont have something so nice as a new f-150 lariat nope not me much to nice. as a matter of fact unless i hear from FORD on the corporate level and at the least from cal worthington anchorage from someone higher up than that chris guy telling,me he's no longer employed there or grovells in a complete apollogy on the sales room floor, im done with ford. they were the 1st american automoblie company i thought that meant something. and when my buddies ribbed me cuase they all drove chevy's i didnt care i was ford through and through.

I would think that the salesman as well as owner needs to know that i was prequalified to walk out with a new truck but due to one arrogant p***k you have 1 more truck on your lot than you may have had. i wonder how the man who signs the paychecks feels about a lost sale due to just plain being rude. and how did such a abrasive individual get to a position as general sales manager. i would find it hard to believe its volume of sales unless he takes the credit for salesman under him. my only other addtion to this complaint is on a personal level to this chris guy. watch your back pal you insulted me in a way ill never forgive you for or forget.

I hope youre in a nasty auto wreck and im the one who stops when your life hangs by a thread and seconds count cuase ill let you bleed, suffocate or burn to death! maybe ill get the chance to return yourt oh so nice comment in a differnet form like gee did ya have to be so scar free. or gee did ya have to be alive. or gee did you have to stand on both your legs.

I fully apollogize to ford motor company and all its employee's. when i reread this letter i had forgotten how angry i had become on my 70 mile commute home.

alot of the things i said were just plain mean. and i admitt uncalled for. ford has contacted me and made me aware that FORD heard my cry's. i am driving my new f150 and i love it. and it blows a chevy away.

i hope to upgrade next year to a f250 and i know i will be treated fairly and professonally from the same dealership i had a problem with. chris the sales representative has said he's willing to apollogize but i dont blame him for being scared of me. to him i say sorry brother please forgive me as i have forgiven you. ford has said they will make it right cal's son himself! wow! im holding him to it. in return all i have to do is make this letter i wrote in anger right. hopefully i can do that and respond to elaine from woodland hills at the same time.

i lost my copy of the credit report from nye thats good advise elaine. but you didnt read correctly i did just leave when i thought i was being treated rude. and i left california and theres not the choices of dealerships like there is there.

i lost my cool cuase i had all my ducks in a row. knew i was qualified and stated i dont want something i cant afford that was my first concern so when hit by the comment it hurt my feelings. and i had 72 miles to get very upset.

i am saying that ford listens. even though my letter was rude and overly angry they called me and heard my side and admitted that i had done nothing wrong getting angry. they have done this when others may have wrote me off as a unapproachable. so theres nothing wrong with venting sometimes it gains you what you desire. i wish i could ask for my original letter to be erased i think that would be the right thing to do. thank you Ford Motor Company i am truly sorry

Rude sales managers

AUTHOR: Elaine - ()

POSTED: Thursday, July 04, 2002

If the salesperson or manager is rude to you, just leave. There's plenty of other dealerships for you to buy a car from and won't give you the rudeness.

I have a feeling if this manager was as rude to you as you say he was, he won't be manager for very long!

Here is some advice that was told to me:

If you are buying a car and you need financing, and they want to run a credit report on you to see how much you can qualify for, DO NOT let them run a report on you unless you tell them you want a copy of your report! Insist on a copy!

If too many credit reports are run on you, it can hinder you and look suspicious on your credit file. (When someone runs your credit report, it it is recorded and people see how many times it's been looked at/ran.)

If one dealer runs a credit report, ask for a copy you can keep. Keep this copy with you for when you go to other dealers to check out cars/finance option. Show them that this report so they don't have to run another one for you.
