On 4-2-11 I took my car to Calvert's in Raytown MO to have the rear brakes inspected. Johnnie, head medhanic, told me the left rear cylinder was leaking & brake shoes were needed. I consented to have the work done at the cost of $259.36. Calvert's only replaced the bad cylinder on my 1996 Nissan Sentra. 2-11-12 I took the car in for a brake inspection, I was advised the front brakes were in great shape at 76% on the front pad & the struts were still in good shape for the 16 year old car.

He told me the shocks were bad & needed to be replaced & an alignment would have to be done on the car. This visit cost me $403.13. My car still didn't act right so I took it to Eagle Auto Service for further inspection on the front brakes. I was adivsed by the owner that the front brakes were binding due to rust jacking of hardware, front backing plates rubbing on brake rotors, rear brake cylinders werw leaking on rear brake shoes, & the struts were shot & had to be replaced, & an alignment would have to be done because of replacing struts. Total cost $1266.35 to have my car brought up to standards & running properly.

I complained to Calvert's manager, John Bluml, in writing, asking that all correspondence regarding this be putting writing. Instead of following my wishes, Mr. Bluml called me & advised me that they would not reimburse me the $317.24 I had requested since I had to have another auto service center properly fix my car. Instead of consentrating on the horrible workmanship by his crew, he concentrated on the cost of what I had to pay for the repairs at Eagle. I told him this wasn't about Eagle as I've been a customer of theirs for 27 years & only went to Calvert's because they were open on a Saturday.

I sent photos of the struts, front discs on the brakes with the rust & uneven surface, along with the front brake pads in the letter to Mr. Bluml. He said that there was nothing wrong with the struts (which, by the way, have a hole in one of them, they're rusted and there is gunk on the struts themselves), he indicated that these struts weren't the original ones, which they were because I have had this car since the date it was purchased in 1996, he said the round items were the REAR drums, which they weren't because they're the front discs/rotors, he said the brake pads were fine at 76%, how can that be when you can see the uneven wear from hitting on the rusted & uneven rotors.

He told me that if I take this matter to the MO AGO & BBB, he will point out to them that they were trying to save me money. How is that when the mechanics are supposed to replace BOTH cylinders at the same time because if one is leaking, the other one would start soon thereafter, he would point out there is nothing wrong with the struts in the photos. Really? I have the struts & will be more than happy to produce them as evidence, along with the rotors & brake pads Eagle's mechanic removed from the 1996 Nissan Sentra. He told me he refused to comminicate in writing & will only do so when contacted by the AGO & BBB.

This supervisor kept trying to talk over me & would only point out what he thought was the short comings of Eagle Auto Service instead of addressing the real issue, the lack of abilities of his mechaincs. I will never go to that auto center again & will let the world know what crooks they are & how badly they treat people. Mr. Bluml spent the entire conversation trying to talk down to me, probably just because I'm a woman. He assumed that I don't know anything about cars or the laws, which I quickly pointed out to him that he's very wrong in both aspects. He reminded me more of a scared deer caught in the headlights. Mr. Bluml even admitted that they were crooks when I advised him this was how I felt.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO CALVERT'S AS YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE IT SOME PLACE ELSE TO HAVE THE WORK REDONE.  I wasn't happy about having to have 2 alignments done on my car in a 60 day period, nor was I happy about having to have one of the rear shoes replaced due to the right cylinder leaking. This could have all been avoided had Calvert's mechanics properly diagnosed everything on 2-11-12 & properly replaced BOTH cylinders on 4-2-11.
