CAMCO Capital Acquisitions & Management tried to rip us off for an 18 year old debt that has never existed Rockford Illinois

My wife received a letter from these people reagrding an outstanding debt. If you know my wife, you know this cannot be true. She does not carry any balances on her credit cards and never has. She pays them off every month.

CAMCO sent the letter stating that she had a debt from 1985 that was unpaid and due to penalties and interest and other fees that vary from day to day, she now owes over $3,400.00. She called them to find out what they were tlaking about. When they answered the phone they read her the riot act and threatened to garnish her wages, take a judgement, charge one of her other credit cards, or for a limited time only, settle the debt for an undisclosed amount. Her response, "nice try" and then she hung up on them. They had given her until Monday the 27th of October to respond before they took action.

On Monday the 27th, they received my cease and desist letter by certified mail. I had consulted an attorney friend of mine and she said to include in the letter that we disputed all of the debt and that we were not responsible for any part of it, and that we had no knowledge of any outstanding charges. The final information was that they were not to call, write, or communicate with us in any way from this point forward. So far I have not heard from them.

Most importantly, keep all of the documentation that you either recieve or send to them in the event that it becomes necessary. Should anyone need my information for a potential class action suit to rid the rest of unsuspecting consumers from these people, please let me know.
