Camden-Grey Essential Oils, Inc is a SCAM organization selling FAKE essential oils. Here is my experience of dealing with this awful company and their FAKE product: I purchased a large container of "Grapefruit Ginger" essential oil from Camden-Grey, because this is my favorite scent for around the house and they offered a fair price. I have used this type of essential oil for several years and so am very clear on what such an oil should smell like if it is genuine. Within a reasonable amount of time, I received a bottle of oil from them labelled "Grapefruit Ginger." However, the oil inside did not smell anything like grapefruit or ginger, and in fact smelled like the cheap floral fragrance oils you might purchase in a drug store. I wrote back to them politely asking if the bottle may have been mislabeled. In order for them to correct the issue, they demanded that I send them a sample of their own product. I complied with this request, but Camden-Grey would take no action after they had received this sample from me. Finally, I threatened to contact the Better Business Bureau, after which co-owner "Vivian" began sending me rude and harassing emails. The email exchange follows: From: Me Sent: Friday, August 07, 2009 3:08 PM To: orderdesk@camdengrey.com Subject: Re: Your Camden-Grey Essential Oils Order Detail Hi there, I have received my shipment but I think the bottle must have been labeled incorrectly. The oil doesn't smell like citrus or ginger, it just smells floral. My wife says it smells like French Tulip. The bottle is labeled Grapefruit Ginger; is it possible that it could have been mislabeled? Thanks, __________ On Fri, Aug 7, 2009 at 2:13 PM , Order Desk < orderdesk@camdengrey.com > wrote:

Thanks for contacting us.  This is the description offered on our site for your review:
PHTHALATE FREE. Grapefruit Ginger: A citrus blend of grapefruit, bergamot, lime, lemon and orange is combined with fruity notes of pear, pineapple, apple, and peach, rose, violet, jasmine, gardenia and lilac, linen, minty spearmint and wintergreen, warmed with balsamic pine, vera moss, green leafy tea accords, and base notes of clove spice and musk. HP results: No browning at all, has a really nice, strong smell. Very little ginger scent in HP, but lots of strong and true grapefruit scent. Some might think this one is the "real" grapefruit EO .. it is so realistic, and didn't burn off, even though the HP was rather warm when the FO was added. CP results: Smelled more ginger than grapefruit in CP, although it is still a blend of the two. Very clean. Also very nice that it did not discolor much (light bone color) and did not eat plastic. Very good! MP results: This one is really good. Strong scent .. you can really smell the grapefruit in it, too!! Ate plastic a little. Clear, almost no discoloration. Flash point: 165F.

I'll go smell our stock as soon as my time permits and will email you again. Cordially,
Vivian

We don't have time for the nonsense of " The oil doesn't smell like citrus or ginger, it just smells floral".  We're very clear on our site about all sales being final and no returns.  That's the reply I should have given you when you started this whole thing.

Camden-Grey Essential Oils, Inc. Whether or not I receive this refund (after three months of pursuing relief from this terrible company) remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: Camden-Grey Essential Oils, Inc is a SCAM organization selling FAKE essential oils. I have posted this to hopefully save others from having to deal with this awful company and the bulldog co-owner "Vivian." The essential oils this company is selling are not genuine, and they are completely unrepentant about this fact.

It's unfortunate that this report from 2009 continues to remain online in 2015; however, anyone with intelligence who reads the complete report immediately understands the ignorance of this ex-customer who doesn't know the difference between an essential oil and a fragrance oil.  However, as any savvy business owner knows, we cannot please all of the people all of the time.  This ex-customer has spent a lot of energy and time disparaging us online throughout the years.  What a sad soul he must have!

product NOT sold as 'essential oil'

AUTHOR: L J - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, April 19, 2010

I was reading the complaint about Camden Grey, regarding the Grapefruit Ginger 'essential oil'. I have been in the fragranced product industry for 10 years, and buy both essential oils and fragrance oils for products that I make. There is a HUGE difference between essential oils and fragrance oils - essential oils are natural, fragrance oils are at least partially man made.

The person complaining calls the Grapefruit Ginger as 'essential oil', yet at the website, this product is clearly sold as a fragrance oil with a complete discription including the term 'FO' which means Fragrance Oil. The description on the website also states " Some might think this one is the 'real' grapefruit EO.. it is so realistic..." which clearly indicates that it is NOT the real grapefruit EO. The website also states that no returns can be made of these oils, and small sizes are available for the purpose of testing.

Further, every website that has a Grapefruit Ginger fragrance oil available has an oil that smells different than the next. It's how they keep loyal customers - the blend is unique to that company. If you buy Grapefruit Ginger from company A, it will be different that the oil by the same name at company B, C, and D, etc.

And taking this complaint one step further, what may small like a tulip to one person might smell like grapefruit to another. Every person has a unique group of scent receptors. That's why some people love one fragrance and others simply can't stand it. It's more than subjective, it is scientific.

Not only are the essential oils I've purchased from Camden Grey of high quality, they have done a good job of giving all the information a person needs to distinguish the individual qualities of each product. To mistake a fragrance oil as an essential oil is an oversight by the buyer, not a mistake by Camden Grey.

Nobody wants to spend money on a product they don't like. I have done it many more times than I wish to recall, but each time it was my own choice that was the mistake, not the mistake of the company from which I bought.

Camden Grey Essential Oils FAKE

AUTHOR: ccole - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, January 21, 2010

I have been using Camden Grey for a number of years for the purchase of essential oils.

First of all Grapefruit Ginger is obviously a FRAGRANCE OIL, not an essential oil.  Bergamot EO should smell like Bergamot EO; however a fragrance oil will smell like whatever composition of oils is in there which is why there is a description of the perceived aroma of that oil.  And this aroma can vary greatly depending on what the composition is and the amounts used.

With that said, I have been 100% satisfied with all the products I have ordered through Camden Grey.  As an ex-owner of a retail store that purchased EO's in bulk and then rebottled them for resale I know how to tell whether an essential oil is pure or not.  Once I closed my store and no longer had the need to purchase EOs in bulk from my wholesale supplier I turned to Camden Grey due to their quality and pricing.

And by the way, the website clearly states that all sales are final.  As far as customer service I did have a problem with an item once, and yes they were slow in responding (a few days) but the situation was properly resolved.

UPDATE: More Harassment From The Camden Grey Essential Oil Company

AUTHOR: David - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, November 20, 2009

I am continuing to receive harassing emails from Vivian of Camden-Grey Essential Oils, Inc. Now that she sees that I have posted negative reviews of her horrendous service and fraudulent products, she is writing me emails calling me a "donkey." I really couldn't make this stuff up.

This is the worst example of customer service I have ever seen. I have not been rude or offensive in any way. I am a legitmate paying customer who has simply asked to receive what he paid for. Any legitimate business person would simply try to correct the situation by apologizing for the inconvenience. Camden-Grey Essential Oils does not do business this way. Instead, they insult their dissatisfied customers because they know that they are selling worthless products.
