I am a victim of my own stupidity and Camelback Kia participating in it. I received a inheritance from my mother and the car I had was on it's last leg and wanted to get a replacement so I went with my sisters friend to check out the cars at Camelback Kia. I liked the Kia Rio. It was the striped down version that has a MSRP starting at $15,885 but ended up paying cash $24,279.97 I trusted the people at Camelback KIA and my sisters friend. My husband was not aware of what I did until he came home from work. He took a quick look at the contract and almost had a heart attack on the over costs.

My husband and I went back with me to the dealership to review the deal. This is what we understand:

1. Appearance Package/Protection Package of $599 each discount total of $1198 For door edge film guard ($7.99), plastic finger guards ($5.99) and nitrogen filled tires.($12-$40) Total of 25.98-53.98 if purchased on my own

2. MPP Club Plus $1695 Paintless Dent Repair (Minor Dings) Tire/Wheel road hazard (Normally $40) Windshield Repairs (No replacements)

3. Alarm $495

No remote door unlock switches came with the car. Called .Rockledge Securities who is on the window sticker and they said it may have not been installed

4. Zaktec Basic Paint Protection $399 Just a paint coating that has to be applied every 6 months to warranty against paint aging Totally worthless. COPIED & PASTED FROM KIA FACTORY WARRANTY: Paint repairs due to non-impact discoloration, fading, cracking, chipping, or flaking are covered for the first 36 Months/36,000 miles. BTW this car is white low chance of fading or discoloration

5. MPP Mechanical Service Plan (Service Contract) $3033.60 72/6000 Another totally worthless feature Factory has 10years/100000 COPIED & PAISTED FROM KIA FACTORY WARRANTY:

FIRST 60 MONTHS

“all components of your new Kia Vehicle are covered for 60 months/60,000 miles from the “Date of First Service, whichever comes first (Basic Limited Warranty Coverage).

AFTER 60 MONTHS

Power Train Limited Warranty begins upon expiration of the 60 month/60,000 mile Basic Limited Warranty Coverage, and will continue to cover the following components up to 120 months or 100,000

6. Window Tinting $399 Typical window tinting according to Promatcher.com $204.43 - $243.00

After the deal was reviewed with Kareene Jones the dealership declined to do no other action except extend MPP Mechanical Service Plan (Service Contract) to 84/75,000 Based on our figures we are overcharged $7199.25 Hindsite is 20/20. I tried some resolution first with Camelback KIA before posting online review.

Useful Suggestion

The first thing you need to do is read every bit of paperwork they gave you, especially with all of these "extras" you purchased.

Most of the packages and warranties you have should have a cancellation period where you can get your money back.  But they have to be cancelled in a very specific way. Generally in writing to the company. You paid cash so getting a refund will be simpler as there is no financing issues with any loans.

Now, the dealer is not your friend.  Where based on the fact that the only thing they were willing to do for you was extend out the warranty pretty much shows you can't expect them to help you with anything.  This is mainly because you are now taking away their very heafty commission check. By the way if you confront them about that they will use very fancy double talk saying they don't get a "commission"..but the fact is that somehow..someway.,.they get paid for selling you the contracts.

So if the items require you to have the dealer cancel it be sure to have the cancellation setion ready to show them that they must cancel it and keep on them until they do..and show you proof.

Just remember that NOTHING told to you verbally will override what is in writting.

Good Luck

I would like to ask you question was all of this on the contract that you signed ? Did you read the contract before you signed it ?

so many people get so excited about buying a new car.   You have to be willing to look at the bottom line the numbers.  You have to ask yourself if it’s a brand new car does it have the regional manufactures window sticker on the car yes or no how much are they charging you for the sale price of the car.  What’s the interest-rate  what are the extras that they are applying to the price of the car.

Ask the salesman to show you his  Pay voucher.

During the process of you buying this car who filled out your credit application did you do it or did the sales rep do it ????????

Did they give you a copy of the credit application that was filled out by somebody on this planet ?

Do you know what point spread is  ?

What so you signed a contract at  10% interest  if the dealership got you approved 5% but you signed a contract that shows 10% that is the five point spread and the lender gives that five point spread of interest to the dealership  that’s called back in gross

Did the dealership talk to you about a CSI  Survey  if this car is a brand new car you need to contact the manufacturer and find out if you’re going to be sent a survey regarding how you were treated at the dealership  if the dealership did not send the proper information to the manufacture you will not get a survey and you probably think no big deal.

Some dealerships even a Ford dealership in the state of Arizona was preventing consumers from getting CSI  surveys because their sales practices actually sucked some customers did not complain about not getting the CSI survey here’s the bad situation regarding this

If a dealership prevent you from getting a CSI survey because they sent falsified information to the manufacturer like your correct mailing address your correct email address incorrect phone number you will not get that CSI survey that helps but dealership hold their average CSI scores higher which means they get a bonus at the end of the year because they got good CSI‘s

Many people think no big deal what happens if the manufacturer has safety recall notice is that they have to send out to the car buyers the boat brand new cars and they don’t have the correct mailing address with a quick phone number or the correct email address

I had a friend that used to inform car buyers what could happen to them before they went to the dealership to buy their brand new car but he told me he quit doing that business because he knew that consumers would refuse to pay him a fee to educate them  regarding the scams the auto industry.   Because most car buyers are cheap they don’t wanna pay for any kind of service to protect them from scams in the auto industry so they get what happens to them because they’re not willing to pay to educate themselves of the scams in the auto industry.

People that sell cars for a living that are scammers know how to clean the idiots clock financially.   Should always read the Rip Off Report’s before you go buy a car from a dealer of your choice.   I’m telling you now if for any reason they ask you to come back to the dealership to sign some additional documents that they forgot to get you to sign refuse I know I mean absolutely refused to do it ..

I’ve heard of dealerships doing this it’s called a yank yank the customer back down to the dealership told them they could not get them approved but they have to sign some new documents that the lender needs and then all the sudden the numbers are so much higher...   it’s just time. Did they leave you out there smashing bugs showing your friends are going to car and then when you fall in love with the car they will ask you to come back down to the dealership and sign some additional needed documents that the bank needs  you to sign which is all bull crap..

It’s just another way to get you to pay higher price for everything that they sold you call it our unique extra way to get more money out of your pocket

So if they ask you to come back down to the dealership to sign some additional documents that the bank was a Linder need you to sign refuse to do it if you do you’re an idiot ......
