My experience in short and below that things to know.  The problem started when I was in need of a much needed vacation post military (It wasn't immediately after the military) after graduating from UCLA so I decided to buy an RV and take a cross country road trip to get the rest I needed.  From the Very minute I purchased the RV I had problems and it wasn't related to it shaking.

There are several issues.

1. I am concerned about he safety of the coach I purchased and believe it to be a lemon. Just looking at the craftsmanship of the work behind the microwave was frightening. Several things were left completely unassembled such as the mounting brackets for the microwave and the entire power assembly to one side of the coach.   The microwave was literally falling out while driving because there were no mounting brackets.  An Entire electrical system was left unconnected...Ooops!

2.  I feel there was a complete lack of urgency and complacency in things being the way they were.  The service department made it seem like it is normal for a brand new RV to have several issues and be in the shop for months.  There was no sense of urgency such as rushing parts.  The power awning wasnt working and they said "oh this model has problems" you may have to have a 10 foot ladder and manually bring it down.  Who takes a 10 foot ladder with them everywhere?

3. I have spent the last 6 months making payments on my loan and paying for insurance on a vehicle that hasn’t been ready. Half of the Manufacture Warranty is up just to fix issues identified on a couple short trips.  Thor customer service even told me that 18 problems is normal.  Granted a Supervisor who finally reached me after lodging a complaint told me that representative was wrong but I am still waiting for a resolution nearly a week later.

4. I spent a little less than $800 on the Spray protectant that was suppose to applied to the RV that had paper work that said it was done on the day of purchase and it was actually never done. Initially I was told it was done, and after I proved that it in fact never was. I informed Amanda that I wanted it held off on because I am looking at pursuing my options.
5. I was charged $2000 to make sure everything in the RV was working and resolve any safety concerns for sitting in the lot. It is clear that was never done because outlets were never tested, power in certain places weren’t working and the Microwave was falling out. As I understand it some of your employees believe that because I asked if it could be ready by Mother’s Day I spent $2,000 for a service I didn’t really want. When in fact I was told everything was done except that spray to protect the RV from UV rays and spills inside the coach. Even the General Manager seems to share this view which is unreasonable and illogical. I feel like I was scammed paying for a service that was never done.
6. I told my sales representative that it was an important feature for my son be able to watch the TV while driving, something I was assured could be done provided the generator was running. It wasn’t until about 2-3 months later that I was told that this can’t be done despite earlier being told that I should be able to from the sales rep and initially the service advisors.

These are the biggest issues and I am still waiting for a resolution near Thanksgiving.  By the way, hard to take a cross country trip in the Winter?

Things To Know-If you buy an RV and are traveling across the country and you have serious problems, despite having a warranty you may have to wait months for a repair and will be responsible for hotels and housing costs until it is fixed.  It has taken me 6 months and my issues still are not resolved.

RV expert witness speaks up

AUTHOR: RV expert witness - (United States)

POSTED: Thursday, November 16, 2017

Ever ask yourself why they call it a shakedown cruise after you buy your new motorhome ?????

I got a question for you  before you read the below that I posted....

Do you have any documentation that shows a predelivery inspection was done on the motorhome and have any documentation that shows that there was an LP gas system leak check ?????

Posting this information below because I want people to understand some of things that go on the RV industry I want to make changes it’s time RV dealerships step up to the plate and start doing what supposed to be done to keep people safe when it comes to operating a motorhome

Read the below and post your comments if you have any questions for me to answer please post those questions on this report

Today I talk to an RV buyer who has hired a attorney to help her with her RV dealership repair issues I told her to tell her attorney that I will do whatever I can to help her and her case and act as an expert witness in the RV industry for the law firm that she is tired and I’m going to provide him with all of the inside information that I can at no cost and I will do that for anybody that has a lawsuit that’s having clear and obvious troubles with their brand new motor homes

Now I hope that you find my below posting extremely helpful for you ....

I am looking forward to your comments

Here's some of the problems I have with RV dealerships.

1 most RV dealerships that I'm aware of do not do pre-delivery inspections before they put the coaches on the lot for sale.   2. Mini RV dealerships do not educate the public how explosive propane gas is in the safety precautions that all RV owners should take.   3. they do not show their customers how to check for leaks in the propane system.   4. they do not inform them what to do for the most part when they suspect leaks in the propane system.   5. Predelivery inspection is a very important but most RV dealerships like I said do not want to pay their RV technicians to do complete predelivery inspection to make sure the customers are buying something that has oh functions working properly before they put the coach on the lot for sale that should be one of their priorities.   6. customers do not understand when you're buying a brand new motorhome the Monroe leave law regarding MSRPs do not apply when it comes to the RV industry because they are not passenger vehicles.   7. be very careful when you go to an RV show and sale.  Most of the time you're going to get caught up in the sale and the excitement at the RV shows you're going to wind up paying way more than the coach is actually worth.   8. here's some information for people to plan to buy a motorhome and want a smoking deal.  The best place to buy a motorhome is RV storage facilities were people are paying a monthly fee to store their motorhomes because they can't keep them at the place that they live.  Those people are tired of paying the monthly rent for the RV storage of their motorhome that they can't keep their house and they're ready to get rid of it.   No sales tax. No documentation fees. And most of the time the people that sell these motorhomes don't know the true market value in those cases the person is planning on buying it is going to get a smoking deal.    9. when you going to an RV dealership and you plan to buy a used motorhome good luck because most of the time again the RV dealerships do not want to pay RV technicians to do a complete thorough inspection to make sure everything works properly.   When you Plan to buy a motorhome of your choice not to sales reps choice it would be very smart for you to ask for predelivery inspection sheet it usually comes in several pages.  That's if the RV dealership actually does them.  Bring yourself an RV technician with you before you sign any documents have been kind a give you a basic walk-through looking for things that might be wrong with the coach if it's a use coach but remember don't you think it would be smart if an RV dealership would actually do a complete predelivery inspection to make sure everything works before they place it on the lot for sale ?????   Let me give you some numbers hear about the explosive capability of propane.   Let's say that you have 1 gallon of propane in a very small tank in a barbecue grill.  While the propane that 1 gallon of propane is inside the container it's in liquid form.   If the propane system has a leak that 1 gallon of propane will expand it 270 gallons of explosive vapor.   It's called the expansion rate.   Now let's say that you have an RV has a 35 gallon propane tank.  You have 35 liquid gallons of propane inside the tank when it's inside the tank under pressure.  Now let's say that that propane system that has 35 gallons in the tank has a leak in it that the RV dealership never found because they refused to pay their RV technician to do a complete LP gas system leak down test. If that 35 gallons of liquid propane in the tank leaks inside of the coach and outside because of a leak that was never detected the 35 gallons of liquid propane will expand the 9450 gallons of explosive vapor.   That is enough paper to blow that motorhome completely into pieces if for some reason it's ignited from a pilot light or a candle or a cigarette.   Now after reading the above paragraph don't you think that it's important that RV dealerships should do complete LP gas system checks for leaks and make sure that the LP gas regulator is not leaking and the LP gas regulator is operating at normal operating pressures. ???? I used to get hired by attorneys as an expert witness and testify in court after a customer bought a motorhome and had major issues that were not disclosed before the purchase. I know what I'm talking about because I used to own an RV repair a business and I seen some crazy things that RV dealerships would put on their lot for sale. Now do your homework every time before you buy a motorhome if you like what I have to say post a comment maybe I'll post even more information for you..
