Capella University Misrepresentation, Lies, Unethical Billing Practices and Harrassment Minneapolis MN
In June of 2011, I enrolled at Capella University. My start date for the class was June 06, 2011. At this time, I did not have an academic plan and my advisor did not provide me with one and the university did not provide me with one until June 22, 2011.
June 13, 2011, I officially dropped the course that began on the 6th. Unbeknowinst to me, on June 15, 2011, I was placed back into the class. After many attempts to contact my adivsor, I find that he was absent the entire week. Once I did figure out I had been placed back into the class, I withdrew from Capella altogether. I received my plan the day I withdrew officially. I tried multiple times to contact my advisor, with no luck. He finally sent an e-mail stating he was out of the office and he was sorry. On top of this, he told me a different graduation date from the one on the academic plan. I had credits transferring into Capella and was unaware that those credits did not transfer. The graduation date was pushed out almost an entire year past the date that Mr. ..... gave me.
I withdrew from the school I did not post in class, nor did I complete any assignments. Capella took $600 in Pell, which I will never see. As of now, this is the second collection agengy I have had to prove my drop date. I kept about 16 e-mails. I have e-mails to prove the drop date, the re-registration date, the unanswered messages sent to the academic advisor, the messaged stating he was out of the office and I have the messages asking for an academic plan. I also have another e-mail verifying that the financial aid disclosure was sent to me on June 17, 2011, eleven days after the start of the course.
I have attempted to work this out with Capella on numerous occasions and I am being told that the drop date of the 13th does not matter because I was placed back into the class on the 15th. The 6th to the 13th is 7 days. From my understanding you have 12 days to drop a course. They enrolled me again on the 15th and I officially withdrew from Capella on the 22nd. I was unaware that I was placed back into class on the 15th. Had I known this, I would've dropped that day. I was trying to formulate a plan and talk to my academic counselor but neither one happened because he was out of the office. Even the collection agencies, after I submit e-mails drop it and move on to someone else.
I have attemtped resolve with Capella without any luck. They simply will not acknowledge any wrong doing. Instead of being given another counselor while mine was away, my e-mails went unanswered and avoided. I was not issued any plan of any kind until the 22nd or 23rd of June. This is past the 12 day cut off. Personally, I believe this is done with intent, to trap students. This is immoral, unethical and should be considered theft. Bad experience and do not recommend at all. They do not care about their students at all. We are nothing more than a means to collect money.
