I received a telemarketing call in late April saying because of my good standing with my bank I have been chosen to recieve a free vacation package, that would include airplane and hotel vouchers for over $400. At first I said no but they said it was a free trial so I thought I could look it over. I spoke to several different people and I was given a number to call to confirm there legitamcy so I felt comfortable giveing them my information. This was very bad judgement on my part.

I received the information in about 2 weeks. I looked it over and it was nothing like what they said it would be. There were 2 companies Capital vacations and the Travel Agent Network. I immediatly called and cancelled both. It was a voice mail system but it told me that my memebership had been cancelled. I didn't think anything else of it until May 12th I went to make a purchase with my debit card and it was declined.

I called the bank and found out that my acount was negative. There had been a withdrawl for $149 from Travel Agency Network aka Bill Brown travels aka capital vacations plus I had been charged $70 in overdraft fees. I called and was told they had no record of my cancellation and asked for a cancellation code. The message gave no confirmation number. The scam is you can only cancel if you talk to a person. (hit pound pound to be connected to an operated) The message does nothing I got the machine 3 different time all 3 times it said my memebership was cancelled and it was not.

I was told to send a letter with my signature to there address and I would receive a refund in about 6 days. I am sending overnight so we will see if I have money back in a week. Based on what I have read it seems unlikely. Lesson learned no matter how legit it sounds do not give payment info over the phone unless you call and place the order.
