i feel so foolish! I am young and a freshman in college and i too was scammed by the so-called Capital Vacations. I was called on my cell phone and saw a strange number on my phone. (By the way, if you see the number 727-471-0418 DONT ANSWER) I answered and was offered a free vacation packet and $400 in airline voucher. I immediatlely said i wasnt interested because I was in college and did not have the funds or time to travel, but he continued saying how there was no obligation and all he wanted to do was send me the information about the offer which is good for a year. So, I decided to at least review the information, which was the least I could do for him since he called. Sympathy for the salesman is not a good thing! Dont do it!

He began to have me verify personal information that Im not quite sure how he received such as my address, phone number, and middle initial. Then, he said that he needed me to verify that I did have an account because the catch of the offer was that I had 2 weeks to review the information sent to me, and after that, my account would be charged $19.95 a month plus a $40 activation fee. I continued to question him why I couldnt give them my account information at a later date, once I had reviewed the information but he assured me it was for verification purposes only and comnpared it to how department stores scan your checks to verify the account. Then, I became suspicious because in the background I heard alot of joking around and laughing and I found it hard to believe that a business setting would be so informal. However, I asked him for a number to call for verification and I felt assured. I proceeded to foolishly give him my account information.

Then, he said he would start recording the phone call and that we would have to repeat my name, and my account number. He then proceeded to tell me about the six day 5 night vacation in Orlando that I would receive for only $140. I said I was not interested. He then offered me a free callin card but I again declined as I was becomming irratated because my cell phone minutes were ticking away. He then said that dispite this, the information would still be sent to me and that I could keep the airline tickets. But when he again tried to talk me into accpeting the free calling card I stated that I was no longer interested in the deal and I dont want the information.

Now this is the funny part (well its actually NOT funny). When I got off the phone, I did a search on the internet about the company and I was directed to this site. WOW! I was so shocked and I felt violated. I called my mom who told me to withdraw from my account all but $2 and call my Bank to alert them of my mishap. I called the Bank, who immediatly gave me a new account and is monitoring my previous account as an account in conflict. Hopefully, they will catch these jerks who try to take advantage of naive young student like myself. I hope they call me back so I can mess with their deceiving little heads.

WOW I WAS STILL CHARGED!

AUTHOR: Erica - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 09, 2004

EVEN THOUGH I SAID I WAS NOT INTERESTED, CAPITOL VACATIONS STILL CHARGED MY COMPROMISED ACCOUNT A MONTH LATER. AFTER CALLIN MY BANK, REPORTED THE UNAUTHORIZED TRANSACTION, AND CLOSED THAT ACCOUNT, I CALLED CAPITOL VACATIONS AND SPOKE WITH BRANDON PRIDGEN. HE SAID THEIR RECORDS SHOW THAT I DID NOT RECEIVE THE PACKET AND I WAS CHARGED TO MY ACCOUNT. HE ALSO CLAIMED THAT IN MY RECORDING I AUTHORIZED THE PAYMENT WHICH IS A LIE! HOWEVER, HE DID GIVE ME AN ADDRESS WHICH IS 696 FIRST AVE NORTH SUITE 200 ST.PETERSBURG, FLA 33701 AND SAID I NEED TO SEND A LETTER WITH MY NAME, PHONE NUMBER AND CANCELLATION NUMBER AND I WOULD BE CREDITTED WITHIN THREE TO FIVE BUSINESS DAYS AND THAT MY ACCOUNT WILL BE CANCELED AND I WOULD NEVER AGAIN BE FRADUELENTLY BILLED. I AM, HOWEVER, LOOKING INTO SUING THE COMPANY.
