We bought a car about two years ago, unfortunately for us the dealership went with Capitol One Auto Finance. They are by far the worst. Their customer service is outsourced to India and half the time they talk over you, so you cannot even have a civilized conversation. Unfortunately, due to some difficulties and had fallen behind, actually four days behind on my payments. Well needless to say, the calls began every day three to four times a day. I tried to work with these people, but forget it. I wanted to refinance, but they do not refinance, they said they would put a payment to the end of the loan, but only if I could bring the account up to date. Well I would not have asked for the help if we did not need it. They are absolutely the worst to deal with. Even if the payment is made they still continue to harass. They are not willing to work with their customers at all.

There customer service is the worst. STAY AWAY FROM CAPITOL ONE.

If you don't have the cash to buy, don't buy is that so.... Hmm where would  your job be if people did not finance?  I hope that you never fall on really hard times.  And oh yes I did not appreciate being called a liar.....  And by the way I was told by a customer service rep at COAF that they do indeed outsource!

To the "don't call on Sunday" person

You say Cap one is "evil" because they call you on Sunday.  You think they have a duty not to call on Sunday just because you ask them not to?  You, on the other hand, have a duty to make the payments that you agreed to.  Sure - things happen - bad things happen to good people etc..etc..etc  but you act like you are entitled to not be called on Sunday just because you don't want to be - all they want is for you to hold up your end of the deal.  So it is "evil" for them to do somthing you don't like, even though they never agreed not to do it - but it is not evil for you to fail to make your payments, even though you agreed to do so?

Cease and Desist

`My suggestion to you is : Send them a cease and decist letter.  According to the Consumer Fair Credit Acts, they must stop calling you, but you have to send that letter.  Try to pay at least one payment and if you must contact a lawyer that is proficient in Credit Laws.  I do not know where you are in this situation now, but that letter should help with respect to the calls.  You just have to tell them the situation and tell them to cease and disist the constant calls.  Also there customer service lacks a lot as well.  Make sure you keep a copy of that letter.

I beg to differ with your assumption.  I was told that they would not give me an extension unless I was up to date on the payments.  You really have no business telling people what they should and should not buy unless they have cash, how lucky you are if you have the cash to purchase a vehicle.  Second of all, I know that I was not speaking with an American...........I also know what I was told.  They call and harrass you day and night from eight in the morning till nine at night.

The so called employee who rebutted this posting doesn't know what he's talking about. I have been unemployed for almost 2 years and have struggled to pay my auto loan. I have sent money to Capitol One every time I can and they just want more. They told me numerous times they could work with me and offered plans to "help" but I needed to get current. Also, I have asked them repeatedly not to call me on Sunday. I told them they are welcome to call me any other day but they still will call on Sundays sometimes as much as 10 times. I got to believe that they have driven people to suicide with their constant harassment. All of my creditors understand my situation and have been great to work with but Capitol One has got to be one of the most evil companies I have ever seen. They don't care about you or your situation. Just give them their money or else you're a deadbeat that they will continue to harass.

I am an ex employee of CAOF and first I have to say that COAF is not outsourced to India it is 100% american people calling you. Now that I have said that, I belive you need to change everything you said in your paragraph. You said that you were only about 4 or 5 days behind and the offered you an extension. That is a lie you have to be more that 45 days behind in order to be offered an extension from COAF. I think instead of you telling people to stay clear of COAF you need do a little research first. Have you even checked out what other finance companies do? I can tell you this much the finance company that I am with now, they don't offer people any kind of help and that is why I work there, now I don't have to offer people who don't desereve help anything. I am so sick of people saying what can you do for me. If you don't have enough money to buy a car with cash then you have noooo business financing one. You signed the loan and in the loan did it say anything in it about if you loose your job you can just stop paying us? WELL DID IT???

Here it is to whomever it may concern...? I bought a truck in 2005 and was making the payment of $489.34 every month till my work slowed down to nothing at the beginning 2009...So i then had to search for another job... And living in central PA I was having a terrible time finding one...It took me 6 months to find one...I finally started installing DirectTv... Since i was new they were sending me out on jobs were I spent more in gas than I made on the job... And i fell behind on my truck payment... Being a subcontractor I had to pay for EVERYTHING... So lets just say I was struggling... I had to quit this new job cause i was spending more than i was making...Plus they were not paying me what I was billing for every week...Then they stopped paying me all together...Which i am still trying to get the money they owe me through a lien...Not that you people care any way... Finally some splicing work came up...So i started making a paycheck every week again...So I started paying my bills on time every month again...But during my hardship I fell behind on my truck payment I think 3 months...I know you just want paid... And yes I signed a contract to pay you on a certain date every month...You guys call EVERY day 6 or 7 times a day!!! and say you will work with me on the back payments...And in the mean time i am making my regular monthly payments...You guys want an additional 300 a month to catch up on the payments i fell behind on...I am sorry but this i can not do nor can my mother who co signed for me...What a mistake that was!!! Not only do they harass me but they call my parents 6 or 7 times a day or even more!!! No matter how many times a day we tell you (Capitol One Auto Finance) what our situation is...You continue to call every day no matter what...! Holidays ,weekends,6am to 11pm... You say it is automatic dial... After I answer one call per day...I was told then you guys were not allowed to call again...But you will call no matter if i answer you 7 times that day and tell you the same thing every time...!!!! This is a RIDICULOUS way to handle this situation...!!! I mean what is wrong with this country...??? The government bails out all of these big lending companies when they should have given us the people an even cut of these bail outs... As much as they gave companies like you...They could have and should given every able working person a million...  This so frustrating!!! Since i have been making regular biweekly payments there is no reason you can't just put my back payments to the end...But like i was told many times after I have given my situation... THE CALLS WILL CONTINUE!!!
