After waiting for weeks for a response on a claim which was 100% American Heartland's Insured's fault (by her admission) they called us with an offer of 50% and when I told them that was b.s. and that I would report them to the department of Insurance they told me to go ahead and then they took back the offer and said they were now going to pay us nothing! When I said you can't take back the offer you already made, (male from upper mgmnt.) said, "I just did" and that I couldn't tell him what he could or couldn't do!

I am incensed and would like to get a class action lawsuit against them as everyone I have talked to and everywhere I have looked for information on this company all say the same thing. They are an unreputable company and good luck getting any reimbursement out of them! The auto body place that they sent me to for an estimate even said this to me. Hmmm...that told me something right there. My very reputable insurance company said that they were not a good company to work with and that they try to use any little thing they can to get out of paying their claims, which is exactly what they are doing with us. My insurance company has no reason to be involved in this case, but out of their goodness they are helping us by contacting and talking to these rude, obnoxious people for me so that I don't get so frustrated. I nearly had a coronary today after getting off of the phone with them!

I don't usually get so upset that I cuss, but these people had me at my boiling point today, which I'm sure they will also try to use against me.

We have bent over backwards trying to do everything we can to expedite this claim to get my son's car repaired, I even went and bought a copy of the official police report and sent to American Heartland and have talked to their insured repeatedly and she admits the accident was totally her fault as was reported, but they are not willing to do anything.

How is this legal? The girl that hit my son had this insurance to be in compliance with the law, but now they won't pay us anything!! What good does it do to have this kind of insurance.

Please let me know of any recourse we can take against this company. I want them to know in no uncertain terms that we will not give up on this claim!

Their insured does not have the money to pay for this expense out of her pocket, nor should she have to. That's what she's been paying her insurance premiums to them for. ...and I know that they do not drag their feet when they bill her for her premiums...

Please get the word out to everyone not to use and hopefully don't have any dealings with United Equitable Group/American Heartland Insurance!

feel your pain

Mark is my man after one of their clients totaled my car.
He's arrogant and rude with the best of him.

He refuses to pay for his clients damages while he gives you every excuse possible.

Going on two weeks now, car is still in the pound, he hasn't looked at it.
What he's trying to do is leave it there making excuses why he can't see it to the point where he Dumps in on the pound and doesn't pay the expenses that are occurring.

After so many days the pound crushes the car, bingo! no evidence.. thank god i have lots of pictures for them to see..

Avoid American Heartland Insurance at ALL cost

I was also involved in a car accident by an individual insured by American Heartland Insurance Co.  After filing a full police report and having the party admit guilt, i have had no choice but to use my personal insurance to repair my vehicle.  My insurance company is now working to recuperate repair costs and my deductible since winter of last year.  In addition, i was forced to rent a car at my own expense while the repair occurred.  I have left multiple voicemails with Juliette Driscoll and have not gotten a response.  After faxing the bill, she refuses to pay the full out of pocket cost for the rental (< 50%).  The call was then escalated to Ron Clark for reasoning and clarity.  Instead it became an argument with no context or valid reasoning.

At this point in time, i do not know how to go about recuperating my costs.  I am insured by a large reputable carrier, so there is a chance that they will be able to recover costs and refund my deductible at some point.  As for my rental charges, i frankly do not know how to go about recovering them.  Insurance companies should not be allowed to operate in
this manner. There has to be legal repercussions to what they are doing.  Has anyone had to deal with a similar issue with this company? If so, i can take whatever help you can offer.

I hate this company

I am surprised you were able to get this company to respond. I was rear-ended by someone insured with this company. I have a police report plus the lady that hit me was given 4 tickets and taken to jail. It has been almost a month and they won't respond to me or my insurance company. I have left messages with the adjustor who never calls me back and the operator continuously directs me to his voicemail and does not direct me to someone else even though I explained that I am not getting any calls back. I am very interested in a lawsuit against them as I anticipate problems with them.

I am dealing with this insurance company too. I cannot believe their customer service skills. I have had better conversations that make more sense with my 4 yr old then with these idiots. No decent insurance company would ever have people like this working for them, I spoke to a guy named Mark who mocked me, laughed really loud when I was trying to make a relavent point, and then started talking to someone else when I was trying to talk to him. Honestly, there are so many people out there looking for jobs,it's sad that these are the type of people who are getting jobs.

 

Please let me know if you decide to go forward with this.
